Institute of Yilan County History — Attraction in Yilan City

Maybe not the greatest place to bring young children (ages 2-4), but a wonderfully fun and educational experience. The space is open and very well lit, with lots of informative displays, infographic material, historical artifacts, and interactive displays about Yilan. Underneath the museum is a library that is a great place to study, read a book, or just quietly sit and think.

The displays are in Mandarin, but if you have a smartphone it is incredibly easy to translate. Additionally, there is a pamphlet available in both Japanese and English.

Quite an interesting place with lots of information and artefacts about the history of Yilan. There is only Chinese but some texts work well on google translate for my non Chinese speaking partner. For other parts I had to translate for him, but we both really enjoyed learning more...
