The Monument Istiklol is one of the most iconic landmarks in Dushanbe. It’s a beautifully designed structure that represents the independence and unity of Tajikistan. The scale of the monument is impressive, with a grand arch, golden crown, and a statue of Ismoil Somoni standing proudly beneath it.

The area is well-maintained and great for both sightseeing and photography, especially in the evening when it’s lit up. It’s located in a central area, making it easy to visit alongside other attractions like Rudaki Park and the National Library.

The museum is not worth the visit. It's 40 Somoni for the "musuem" or 70 somoni for musuem and top floor. In reality, it's not a museum but more like a souvenir shop on the first floor and some random paintings on the second. No description or explanation. All staff members face down on Tik Tok. No welcome or anything. To enter, you must also purchase a Dushanbe City card, which costs on top of the entrance. The view on the top is nice, but the city's air is so polluted there is not much to see.

Also, the opening hours are random. We arrived at 12:05 and tried opening every door. The last door we tried was the open door, but they were closed...

Visiting the Monument of Istiqlol in the daytime was one of the highlights of my trip to Dushanbe. As I approached, the monument’s golden crown shimmered in the sunlight, standing tall and proud against the clear blue sky. It’s impossible not to feel the weight of history here.

Walking through the spacious park, I passed ornate wooden gates and fountains dancing in the daylight. The paths were quiet, and the warm air carried a sense of calm. It was the perfect place to pause and take in the moment, feeling connected not just to a place, but to a story of independence...
