NOTABLE IMPROVEMENT from last week: Ordered both mutton soup and the rice dish with lamb; both were fine though the rice with lamb, to a lesser degree the soup, could benefit from some slight moderation of the use of salt. Nice cut of lamb on the bone, soft, with ample enough meat. Thank you. Last week, however, there was no plov with lamb, no rice dishes at all with meat, only chicken biriyani. On the positive side of the ledger, I did order two soups with lamb that I enjoyed. Unfortunately, however, I decided to sample the chicken biriyani: easily the worst biriyani I have ever eaten in my life and, having lived in Bahrain for 20+ years, I have eaten my fair share of the stuff. Khuroson's bland biriyani tasted like leftover rice that had been reheated and, at that, boiled rather than steamed. Thus the rice had no flavour; even green chili, freshly ground black pepper and red chili flakes could not resuscitate this pathetic dish that was DOA (dead on arrival). The meager quantity of chicken that was thrown into the rice was obviously just leftover bits and pieces with plenty of bone to boot. İf they do not have the plov of lamb on the bone, spare yourself. Just walk out and go somewhere else. I could have had a decent standard Tajiki beef plov at a typical ошхона for 25-35 somoni. Why did I need to spend 50 somoni for a subpar reheated drab rice dish? The best part of that order was the yoghurt served along it. PREVIOUS REVIEW: Fine Afghan/Tajik restaurant with great value for money. I didn't peruse the menu - I just ordered on the basis of photos in reviews on google maps. I discovered excellent plov of lamb and excellent lamb soup -- a true hidden gem tucked away off кӯчаи Саид Носиров, where Safo hotel is located, on хиёбони ҳофизи Шерози 16/7 (Дома Кайрокум) parallel to highway M34 along the Varzab river. (It is accurately located on google maps.) At this restaurant, just keep in mind that waiters do not understand English and Russian. Attempt speaking to them in Tajik to get yourself understood. Menu has pictures. Two plovs and one soup = 201 somoni (superior value for money). I skipped drinks instead availing of the complimentary yoghurt. When I feel like plov, I shall definitely go again. Relaxed atmosphere with comfortable interior seating. Great place for carnivores! Recommend bringing your own spices (black pepper, crushed red pepper, fresh green chili) if you, like me, appreciate, fire in otherwise tame plov. (Note: I had visited four times over the course of the 48 days in May/June 2024. Food was consistently excellent. Best lamb I had eaten...

Read moreFood was good i think but can’t be 100% as are it cold. They forgot our kabob as part of the order. Asked them about in after about 25 minutes of waiting while all our other plates for cold. Told us it’s coming its coming and after 45 minutes and rest of meal finished still was t ready. We asked them to cancel and give us our bil as it was time for us to go. Made an issue about wanting us to pay for food that never arrived and asked us to take it as take away. Kept pushing us to pay for food we never got and take it as leftovers to hotel. Our initial server was terrible. Never stopped by to ask why didn’t start our meal. Finally we asked about it and never acknowledged that they may have forgotten it. I was planning on going both days of our stay in Dushanbe but after service we won’t be recommending...
