Meru Mbega Lodge was our first stop in TZ after flying into Kilimandscharo Intl. Airport and it was absolutely the right choice. Nestled in the lush green hills just outside Arusha National Park it is a perfect spot to arrive in a different culture, get used to local customs, enjoy the green scenery and the friendliness of its people. Mbega is not luxury, it is cozy, relaxed and just right. I very much enjoyed the many options in the beautiful and vast gardens to sit, relax, read my book and get inspired by the beautiful colors of its flowers, bushes and trees as well as the vast array of birds around. The lodge offers an open spaced restaurant, pool, gameroom and my personal highlight - a watchtower right in the midst of the forrest - stunning. We took a fascinating walking safari by one of the lodge's hosts, which led us to see age old fig trees, all kinds of brush and bushes, many mbega monkeys and much much more....
