Bo Sang Umbrella Village — Attraction in Chiang Mai Province

There are many traditional umbrella shops and workshops in the vicinity but this one is the best.

Great place, really not sure about some of the 1 star reviews and they seem to be reviewing surrounding area NOT the shop/factory itself. We went to it today and it was most impressive more in than expected, staff were lovely and prices very reasonable, we had 4 small umbrellas, a lovely fan style fridge magnet and earrings for less...

Bo Sang is ~ 10 km ausserhalb von Chiang Mai und bekannt für die Bambusschirme und Fächer. Das Ganze läuft hier fälschlicherweise unter der Rubrik "Nachtmarkt"! Man besucht die Handwerksstätten tagsüber, es ist KEIN Nachtmarkt!

Es gibt in diesem Viertel viele Betriebe, welche die Schritte der Anfertigung sehr interessant zeigen, so dass einem bewusst wird, wieviel Arbeit dahinter steckt. Ist natürlich alles total touristisch, aber trotzdem interessant.

Logischerweise endet das Ganze mit dem Besuch des Shops, was aber auch fair ist, nachdem man sich zuvor alles angesehen hat.

Die Preise liegen natürlich etwas höher als auf irgendwelchen Märkten in Chiang Mai oder Bangkok, aber die Qualität ist hier schon besser und auch die Auswahl an verschiedenen Designs und Material.

Der Ausflug hierher lohnt sich alleine schon wegen der Farbenpracht der Schirme in allen erdenklichen Farben...
