We hired a red car driver who was amazing. He took us to Wang Via Ban Pha Ngoep waterfall on our way back to Chiang Mai. This place is cool. When we went, lots of people were enjoying the pool of water at the top - all ages - swimming around. A couple of my kids and husband decided to dip in the water. It was really fun and amazing. WARNING: this place can be very dangerous, however. So please be careful. While we were there I witnessed a woman slip down the rocks and smash into a child at the bottom of the rocks. I'm a nurse and I was sure than one of them was going to bed medical attention. Luckily they were both able to move after the incident - however I'm still not sure the woman was completely okay. After that, my 8 year old son slipped on a rock at the edge of the cliff and I jumped in after him. We were both incapacitated for a few minutes and had to carefully crawl out of the little pool we landed in. Thankfully we didn't go over the cliff ledge. It was the scariest part of our whole trip. My heart still pounds still thinking about what could have been. Anyway - if you want a fun (non scary) waterfall experience where you can go swimming safely, check out the Mae Klang Waterfall in Doi Inthanon...

Wangboa Wan Waterfall was an unexpectedly beautiful and peaceful retreat that turned out to be one of the most relaxing nature spots I’ve visited. The waterfall itself is quite large and powerful, creating a mesmerizing flow that you can admire from multiple angles. What made it even more special was the small lake at its base — a perfect spot to unwind, have a picnic, or just enjoy a quiet drink while soaking in the stunning surroundings.
The best part? There’s no entrance fee, and it’s completely hike-free, making it easily accessible for everyone. Whether you’re traveling with friends, family, or even solo, it’s a hassle-free escape into nature without the exhaustion of trekking.
The weather when I visited was pleasantly cool, which made the experience even more enjoyable. Surrounded by greenery, with the sound of the cascading water and birds chirping nearby, it felt like a serene world far away from the noise of the city.
If you’re in the area and looking for a peaceful spot to connect with nature, I highly recommend Wangboa Wan Waterfall. It’s the kind of hidden gem that makes you pause, breathe, and just...
Read moreMy favourite place in the city. This cute hidden waterfall - you just have a little stream and viewpoint of the city when you first enter from the parking lot, but keep walking in and climb down the rocks to find the 2 waterfall swimming pools! 🥰
It is a little bit of a steep climb down, but I have dodgy knees and I did it fine, just go slow :) Cutest hang out spot surrounded by sun and plants, deep enough to jump in from high up, lots of local kids come to play and it’s just such good vibes I come here...
