I've been to some hidden gems in my travels and this place is a prime example. Once you find it and drive down the little gravel drive way you're immediately struck by the jungle architecture and feel. Once you get to the dining area you're greeted with an amazing view!! A stunning Thai mountain waterfall, lush greenery, and butterflies and dragonflies flying about. If you like that sort of thing I guess.... lol it is showing its age a little and for me that increases its charm and appeal. It would have been an impressive venue in its glory days.
Then I was served some of the best thai food I've ever had. The chef is so kind and talented. When I arrived (on my first visit lol), she shared some fried banana with me that she had made for her own snack (this place is so quiet and serene that she wasn't expecting customers at that time and had made a quick delicious snack). Then worked hard on my meal. The coconut chicken soup and the fried fish woth chili sauce were amazing. Full of flavor, large portions, great views.
I can't say enough good things about this place. Great food, great people, and a really really...
Read moreThis is a grand old venue and I wish I knew more about its history. A beautiful dark-wood mansion overlooking the falls - there's a lot to appreciate here. Those with an eye for detail will appreciate the intricate designs and the unusual labyrinthine layout of the place.
The staff are friendly and the prices are not as high as some other reviewers may suggest - you can get beers for less than 100 and a meal for 150 baht. Happy, sociable dogs are on the premises - but if you have a fear, it may be impossible to avoid them.
The owners are looking for funding in the form of a 'partnership' and I'd be sorely tempted if I had the money. The maintenance and the cleanliness isn't quite up to Western standards, but a good manager could easily fix that, and probably justify hiking-up the prices to reflect the effort.
They really could do with better signage or a greeter near the entrance. We almost walked past the property, and when we entered we walked up the stairs straight into...
Read moreKind of hard to know how to get there since its down a walk way off the road on the left side (walking gps was wonkey). The reviews were right about the ambiance and the pineapple fried rice! Smaller dishes (except the fried AMAZING rice, that was pretty big). We ordered 1 bottle of water, 1 apple slushy thingy (60 bht, Not 150 bht like a different review stated), fried beef plate (120 bht), stir fry vegetables and tofu (90 bht), and a pineapple rice ($?), the water must have been like 60bht...that or the rice was more experience than we thought. Total bill was 505 bht. The rice had chicken (batter fried), cashews, white raisins, garlic pieces and obviously pineapple! Sooo good! The apple slushy was surprisingly delicious!!! A must to visit! OH and the waiter was SUPER FRIENDLY. I always HATE asking for no spice/no chili and every time I ask it still usually too spicy for me but they did an awesome job making our food perfectly not spicy!!! I was happily...
