Beautiful, preserved island beaches! Had a lovely trip with co-workers our to the military island last weekend! The group was mainly America teachers, my fiancé (who’s Thai), and his sister who’d gone before.
We got there by 6 and had no problem getting a que number. When they call your number for the tickets, you must be there otherwise you will be skipped! Boat to the island took only a few minutes. There’s only two beaches we could go to, but they were so BEAUTIFUL! Kayaks too!
The only downsides I thought were the snorkeling trip, costs 50 baht and that’s about the quality of what you get/see. The only real “meals” on the island were mama noodles. And we all got BURNT real bad! Pull out that 100 spf and chap stick! I almost never burn on Thai beaches, but the sun beams are harsh here!
Do be worried to if your not Thai, just #3 bring a Thai friend & there passport #2 get there early so you can make it on the island, there’s only 700(?) a day on...
Read moreI came here for the first time for mangrove tree plant volunteer. I came with the volunteer organiser called "One Fine Day", which I found the information on Facebook. They said they host the volunteer every week (need to check for more information). The activity itself was nice, we plant the tree and pick up some garbage from beach.
I'm kinda impressed with the way people there figure the way to grow mangrove tree in such environment. They explain how hard it was before and what all they experiment until they found that planting in block of semen is the best way, and the tree can go beautifully.
And I guess as it's military area, the nature is pretty perfect with some fish and crab and lizard. I will sure go back for it some day in the future, and hope my trees grow well by...
Read moreBeautiful Island that is badly managed. No plastic allowed on island and my party abided the rule gladly only to be shocked to see many Thais carrying multiple plastic containers. Long queues on island for water and food. Also queue for ticket to island took nearly an hour with only one booth open. I'm a long term resident in the country with a business but was still charged double the price of Thai national. Another queue for song tow to take us to boat then another hour long queue to board boat to island in hot sun with no water. By the time we reached the island we were dehydrated but yes another 30 minute queue for water. With proper management this could be a gem not to be missed. However...
