Best chill out place in this area. About 10 km from the town away. There is a official bus line for only 15 Baht per person from the town (alongside the hospital) to Don Hoi Lot, but there are not so many departing times a day, so maybe you choose to take a tuk tuk for about 120 Baht fix price which takes you there in 10 minutes. Be aware of the sea level at the different times. In the morning is a low water level where you can walk far beyond the sea and in the afternoon there is a high water level where you just enjoy the view or maybe you just take a swim at this level. A nice walk along the sea within 2 km. There are many different stores selling fresh seafood for a cheap price. Just pick up what you like to eat and rent a seat mat for 20 Baht and you can make your stay comfortable at any free place near the sea and just enjoy your selected seafood with a stunning view to to sea with a nice sea breeze. The last bus to the town goes at 16 pm, so choose wisely your time or just rent a motorbike to return at any time you wish. Anytime a go.

It's located in Samut Songkram province, Thailand. It's just 1.30 hours away from Bangkok. By its name, there are a lot of rocket clams in this area. If the tide is low, we can walk on the shore and collect the clams by dropping lime in their hole. They will pop up to the ground. Also, there are a lot of seafood restaurants along the shore and there's a market nearby. If you don't want to sit in a restaurant, you can shop for a various of seafood in the market. Dont forget to bring your mat. There's a park next to the market that you can sit and enjoy the view of the sea and the mangrove forest.

ประวัติ ดอนหอยหลอด สถานที่ท่องเที่ยวที่มีชื่อเสียงของจังหวัดสมุทรสงคราม เป็นสันดอนตั้งอยู่ปากแม่น้ำแม่กลอง เกิดจากการตกตะกอนของดินปนทราย หรือ ที่ชาวบ้านเรียกว่า “ทรายขี้เป็ด” ดอนหอยหลอดมีอาณาบริเวณกว้างประมาณ 3 กิโลเมตร ยาว 5 กิโลเมตร ครอบคลุมพื้นที่ 2 แห่ง แห่งแรก ได้แก่ ดอนนอก อยู่บริเวณปากอ่าวแม่กลอง เดินทางไปได้โดยทางเรือ ดอนใน อยู่ที่ชายหาดหมู่บ้านฉู่ฉี่ ตำบลบางจะเกร็ง และอีกแห่งคือ ชายหาดหมู่บ้านบางบ่อ ตำบลบางแก้ว สามารถเดินทางไปได้โดยทางรถยนต์ บริเวณสันดอนมีหอยอาศัยอยู่หลายชนิด ได้แก่ หอยหลอด หอยลาย หอยปุก หอยปากเป็ด หอยแครง แต่พบว่าหอยหลอดเป็นหอยที่มีจำนวน มากที่สุด จึงเป็นจุดเด่นของสถานที่ท่องเที่ยวแห่งนี้หอยหลอดเป็นหอยชนิด 2 ฝา ตัวสีขาวขุ่น มีเปลือกคล้ายหลอดกาแฟ ฝังตัวอยู่ในเลน การจับหอยหลอด จะจับในช่วงน้ำลง โดยใช้ไม้เล็ก ๆ ขนาดก้านธูป จุ่มปูนขาว แล้วแทงลงไปในรูหอยหลอด หอยจะเมาปูนแล้วโผล่ขึ้นมาให้จับ ไม่ควรสาดปูนขาวลงบนสันดอน เพราะจะทำให้หอยที่อาศัยอยู่ในบริเวณนั้นตายหมด ช่วงเวลาเหมาะสมที่จะท่องเที่ยวดอนหอยหลอด คือ ประมาณเดือนมีนาคม – พฤษภาคม เพราะน้ำทะเลจะลดลงนานกว่าช่วงเวลาอื่น และสามารถมองเห็นสันดอนโผล่ขึ้นมา บริเวณดอน หอยหลอดยังเป็นที่ประดิษฐานศาลกรมหลวงชุมพรเขตอุดมศักดิ์ มีการแสดงดนตรีไทยทุกวันอาทิตย์ที่ 1 และ 3 ของเดือน เวลา 16.30 - 18.30 น. ณ บริเวณสนามหญ้าหน้าศาลกรมหลวงชุมพรเขตตอุดมศักดิ์ นอกจากนี้ยังมีร้านอาหารและร้านขายสินค้าของที่ระลึกหลายร้านเรียงรายบริเวณ ดอนหอยหลอดขายสินค้าประเภทอาหารทะเลสด-แห้ง หอยหลอดสด-แห้ง น้ำปลา กะปิคลองโคน น้ำตาลปึก น้ำตาลสด ฯลฯ ถ้ามาวันธรรมดาจะหาที่จอดง่ายมาก ร้านอาหารทะของสดจากทะเล มีให้เลือกเยอะมา

วันที่ไปเป็นปลายเดือนพฤศจิกายนเป็นช่วงใกล้ลอยกระทงน้ำเลยขึ้นไม่เห็นดอนหอยหลอด เห็น คนเรือบอกว่าเห็นแต่น้ำกับฟ้า แต่ก็ สวยงามแปลกตาสำหรับคนไม่เคยไป นั่งเรือครึ่งชั่วโมง 300 บาท มีเสื้อชูชีพให้ ได้เห็นป่าแสมโกงกาง ป่าชายเลน นกปากห่าง ทำให้เด็กๆรุ่นเยาว์ได้เห็นป่าโกงกาง ก็เป็นเรื่องที่ดี แต่ที่อยากแนะนำคือตอนสุดท้ายก่อนลงจากเรือคนเรือพาไปให้อาหารนกนางนวลซึ่งนกนางนวลในฤดูนี้จะมาตอนประมาณ 15:00 น กว่าๆนกบินมากินกากหมูที่เราซื้อเตรียมไว้ตั้งแต่ตอนขึ้นเรือ นกน่ารัก สวยงามตื่นตาตื่นใจ เด็กๆชอบ แนะนำนั่งเรือ และให้อาหารนกนางนวลค่ะ เพราะเมื่อลงมาให้ริมน้ำที่เขื่อน นกนางนวลจะกลัวเราและไม่ค่อยเข้ามากินกากหมูค่ะ ดอนหอยหลอด เป็นธรรมชาติร่มเย็นมีอาหารขายจะมีคนมานั่งเสื่อทานริมน้ำถ้าได้เห็นหอยหลอด และป่าโกงกางชายเลน ตามธรรมชาติ เด็กๆน่าจะ ได้เรียนรู้เยอะกว่านี้ค่ะ ขากลับถ้าเข้ากรุงเทพฯทางถนนพระราม2 รถติดมากๆ ถ้าไปวันอาทิตย์ ถ้าให้ดีไปวันเสาร์หรือวันธรรมดาดีกว่าค่ะสำหรับคนกรุงเทพ และกราบศาลกรมหลวงชุมพร ด้วยความเคารพ
