What a lovely but challenging climb. If you don't want to sweat more than a hot yoga session coupled with a boxing class then try to go up in the morning before it gets warm. We tried to go in the late afternoon/early evening and it was still 32 degrees with 70% humidity and we were drenched. Took us about 45 minutes to recover before heading down and we like to think we're fairly fit. Some people turn up as if they're on a wild night out, and just pose like it's a fashion shoot, at a sacred religious site, which is not respectful (if this is you, please think about this). Otherwise it's a lovely place to go up and watch the monks maintain the space while allowing those inclined to make their prayers. There are some stray dogs up at the top and they're generally just sleeping alone. Careful with the monkeys though and please try to avoid them as they will try to steal anything you have. The steps are not all the same height so you'll need to wear good footwear to ensure your feet stay good. You have to take your shoes off at the top so keep this in mind also as well as covering up as part of the requirement. I'd strongly recommend you to buy at least one Gatorade or equivalent at the bottom before you start where there are some shops. Finally, the motorcycle parking is free and is closest to the entrance so you can...

If you’re up for an adventure and don’t mind a little sweat, the Tiger Cave Temple Stairs is an experience you won’t forget. This hike is a serious workout, and while it’s definitely rewarding, it’s not for the faint-hearted. The 1,237 steps are steep and a bit tough, especially if you’re not used to strenuous hikes. So, if you’re hiking with young kids, I’d recommend reconsidering or at least preparing for a bit of a challenge. The terrain is uneven, and the climb can be exhausting in the heat.

That said, the view at the top is absolutely breathtaking. The moment you reach the summit, you’re treated to panoramic views of Krabi’s lush jungle, the surrounding mountains, and on a clear day, you can even see the coastline. The giant Buddha statue at the top adds a serene and peaceful vibe to the whole experience.

It’s a feeling of true accomplishment when you finally get to the top, and it’s all worth it once you see that view. Definitely take a moment to relax and take it all in before making your way back down.

Just remember to bring water, wear good shoes (the stairs can be slippery), and pace yourself on the way up. It's a great challenge with a stunning reward at the end!

Would definitely recommend this hike if you're in Krabi, but it’s important to know that it’s a bit tough, so make sure you're...

Stairs to Hilltop Pagoda, Krabi 4/5

The Stairs to Hilltop Pagoda is a popular tourist destination in Krabi, Thailand. It is a steep climb to the top, but the views are well worth it. The pagoda itself is beautiful, and there are also several other temples and shrines to explore.

Here is a review of the Stairs to Hilltop Pagoda, Krabi:

Pros:

Stunning views of Krabi town and the surrounding area

Beautiful pagoda and other temples and shrines

Good exercise!

Cons:

Very steep climb, especially in the heat

Many tourists, especially during the peak season

Can be slippery and dangerous when wet

Overall, I would recommend the Stairs to Hilltop Pagoda to anyone visiting Krabi. It is a beautiful and rewarding experience, but be prepared for a steep climb!

Here are some tips for visiting the Stairs to Hilltop Pagoda:

Wear comfortable shoes and clothing, and bring water and sunscreen.

Start your climb early in the morning to avoid the heat.

Be careful not to slip on the stairs, especially when they are wet.

Take your time and enjoy the views.

Be respectful of the temples and shrines.

I hope this...

50 baht to enter. There are 1260 steps to the top which could be a difficult climb for some. Many of the individual steps are really big in some parts and you need to take a bigger step. There are a few benches along the way for you to sit down and rest, also a couple of free toilets along the way to the top. The climb is physically challenging but well worth it when you reach the top with a 360 degree panorama view, absolutely stunning! When you reach the summit you need to remove your shoes, and must wear proper attire for entering a temple area. However I did see a few woman that didn’t cover their knees and shoulders, so not sure if dress code is enforced. Also there is a filtered drinking water station at the summit which is very pleasing as I drank all my water on the way up!

Good hike!! Definitely got our hearts racing and we saw people of all ages it so it’s very doable! Be aware though, the stairs are very steep at some points so you’ll need to lean forward a tad or keep a hand on the railing. Additionally, the stairs are different heights throughout so you’ll need to watch your step (as small as 2 inches to as big at 10+). View at the top is worth it and there’s a water bottle refill station as well. It is a temple so remember to cover up! They do have covers for those who forget to and entry is THB50 per person and there ARE monkeys.
