A pagoda built in honor of Princess Srinagarindra the mother of 2 Kings Rama VIII and Rama IX (The beloved late King Bhumibol Adulyade). Not only the multi-stories Pagoda is beautiful with marble inside but the views of the mountains/valleys from it are stunning. The Pagoda lies on the edge of Santikhiri village formerly known as Mae Salong mainly inhabited by Chinese descendent of 93rd Division of Republic of China Army that escaped from communist through Burma at conclusion of Chinese Civil War in 1949. It was built in honour of the late Princess Mother, Srinagarindra, who was a great patron and benefactor of the area. But the view was still amazing at sunset and evening, and you can still walk around to see the outside of the wat, which is illuminated in the evening. Phrathat is not lit in the evening, and is rather eerie!
