After riding up on a songthaew in shorts we were looking for something to warm us up and our soups and tea at Xin Shi Dai Bakery did just the trick. We had the northeastern spicy pork soup and the rice soup with pork. Both delicious. We were given fresh mini croissants to sample that were so buttery and flaky, then we ended up buying cookies and a little custard tart. The owners are so welcoming and friendly we are already looking forward to coming back in the morning 😋

This bakery is run by a kind gentleman who bakes his bread and confectionery products from scratch. He doesn't use maragine or whipped cream but pure butter - you can taste the difference from commercially mass-produced bread. Given that this is the only Western-style bakery in Mae Salong, prices are affordable for a nice breakfast with drink. Try the butter biscuits (40 baht) - very tasty! Bakery is open from 8 am to 8 pm. Would recommend for visitors to Mae Salong

We passed by one evening in this little restaurant and bakery run by a yunnan family. Good atmosphere, the tenants were very friendly and made everything for us to feel comfortable, sometimes conversating with us, sometimes watching TV. We spent wonderful and authentic moments as if we were in their family. Oh and of course the food was good, the yunnan style fried rice was delicious, and the yunnan style noodle soup was fresh and healthy (without additional taste)!
