Our favourite beach of our month long visit to Thailand. Most other beaches that we went to were really busy which is not our cup of tea at all.

This beach was always very quiet and is ideal for walking for miles in either direction, which we did every time that we visited. We were staying in Khao Lak but it worth the 10 - 15 minute journey heading north to get away from the crowds. The sea was always calm and ideal for swimming.

We always used The Golden Teak restaurant and bar which is one of the first that you come to as the food and drink were excellent and the staff were brilliant. ( See my review ) We would spend all day there which was...

A clean stretch of sandy beach with some rocks scatters here and there. There are many restaurants, bars, massage huts, all very reasonably priced. I do recommend Mr Eak’s crew for the massages and Boom Boom restaurant for the food and service. This year the food on the beach’s restaurant was much better than at the TUI resort (and much cheaper too), apart from the Talay Thai restaurant.

Worth knowing: snorkelling here is not good; the sea floor being sandy makes for 20cm of visibility. No fishes could be seen. For snorkelling, book a trip to the Simillan or Surin islands; this...

My introduction to this beach was a gentleman by the name of Mr Eak saying welcome to paradise. He was not wrong, this place is staggering, even in the rain it is beyond beautiful. The little cluster of traditional beachside huts only adds to it’s magic. The Sun is the first open hut, run by the inimitable Mr Ex, a wonderfully robust character who’s only desire appears to be to make you as comfortable, safe & secure as possible, offering free beach chairs with a vista that is unparalleled. The cocktails here are...

As you walk north from this beach, it only gets more secluded with plenty of room to feel like you have the beach to yourself (mostly). The forest meets the beach here with few resorts and development. Spending a few nights in Khao Lak, this was a favorite beach for swimming and relaxing. At low tide, shells are abundant. Compared with other beaches in this area, there are few mangroves on shore, meaning less leaves and debris in the water which was appreciated.
