Mr Bao Family Restaurant — Restaurant in Phang-nga Province

Great little beachfront restaurant and bar with awesome sunset views. Amazingly helpful and friendly staff, few swings and bits for the kids (not to mention a beach!) Nice food and drink and good value to boot.

If you happen to visit on a show night, you'll get treated to the family and staff putting on a fire poi, staff and firebreathing.

Update for 2024. Still a super friendly and fun place, amazingly remembered us from two years ago! Solid tourist Thai food and basic European bits cooked to your preferences for so little money it's indecent. Used the super cheap and quick laundry service this time round to minimise our packing. Faultless l'y cleaned, dried, folded neatly and bagged to pick up the next day. Still offering shuttle taxi service, but as we stayed at an hotel a stones throw away, didn't need it. We enjoyed having dinner here with an amazing sunset and ocean view. We enjoyed the large vegetarian section in their menu, which my wife ordered from. We both had their Panang curry (hers with vegetables and mine with fish) and we both agreed that they were probably some of the most perfect curries that we have ever had here in Thailand. Service was prompt and friendly. Our meals were absolutely delicious. We returned to eat here again for the amazing food a few nights later, and once again we were not disappointed! We are probably going to eat here at least one more time before we leave to enjoy something else from their menu. We rarely eat anywhere more than once when we are on vacation, so we obviously love the food and the ocean views from here! We will definitely return here again when we come back...

Mr Bao is perfectly located for a short walk 200m along the beach from Avani or Outrigger hotel. Food is great and prices are compatible. Service is honest and genuine. We loved the phad thai, pineapple fried rice, fried glass noodles, green mango salad, Tom yum soup, green curry, red curry and water melon juice. They can cook with whichever meat or seafood you prefer : prawns, squid, beef, chicken, pork. We were fortunate to watch their fire show on our 2nd night dining with Mr Bao. They are also happy to arrange a local priced taxi back to the hotel.
