There are several several "piers" around, each has several service providers and several offices to buy tickets at each pier. One lady on a boat told us you can buy the tickets directly at the boat which is cheaper. Our tickets were for 40 minutes ride and costed 60THB, on the boat it would have cost 40THB. Initially we were told one way ticket is 300, return ticket is 500 for a speedboat. After we told the lady we want just one way, she said it's not possible, because she doesn't have appropriate ticket sheets and also that it's not actually possible to buy tickets for a ride from Koh Samet to shore directly on Koh Samet (that's nonsense, there are several providers directly by the pier on Koh Samet). So we turn around and left. She tried to chase us lowering the price but we were dissapointed by the behavior and left.

The boat ticket is 100 baht for a return ticket paid when you arrive at pier.
Do be aware you will be required to pay 200 baht - foreigner 40 baht - Thai When you arrive on the island as some kind of national parks tax.
Motorbikes on the island near the pier where 300 baht for 24 hours which included a full tank of fuel There where slightly cheaper bikes for rent away from the pier but it would take you a long time to walk there.
There is also a 7-11 at the pier on the island.
The closest 7-11 to the pier on the mainland is 1km. There are a few local restaurants before you enter the pier if you are happy with local style.

After a while we were brought by tuktuk to another pier to board the slow ferry. The boat ride was very smooth and comfortable. And it was only 30 MINS.
When we arrived in Koh Samed we also found out that the slow ferry is...
