Location.||Very close to the Pier where the boats leave for Koh Samet. While it fronts the main road, the restaurant and gardens at the front make the resort very quiet and private. The resort is an easy walk to the nearby shops and a few nearby cafe's and restaurants. A slightly longer walk to the markets, but well within the capabilities of the average person.||Two friendly dogs adopted us and often hung around our room or came to greet us in the morning and evening as we came and went. I think because my partner kept feeding them.||Rooms.||We stayed 4 nights in one of the Wooden Rooms. The main living area was roomy and had a TV, fridge, air conditioner and a Queen size bed. (Advertised as a double bed). Off the living room was a hand basin and down a few steps a sunken bathroom with shower and sit down toilet. All areas were nicely designed and felt comfortable to stay in.||The bed was comfortable, the mattress on the hard side, which I prefer. The sheets were clean but the fitted sheet had a small hole in it.||There was only one cup and one glass provided for a two person room. We asked for extra glasses and plates and cutlery and they were provided without fuss.||A small bar fridge, TV and Aircon in the room with a small study desk and 1 chair completed the fittings.||The balcony had only 1 chair, a bit narrow for my bum.||One of everything seemed to be a theme, maybe these rooms are for singles?||General||We had a discounted room price, even so it was still 1500 baht per night. The resort is obviously under re-development with a number of new rooms partially completed. They look like they will be compact but nice.||Our room would suit a couple for a romantic getaway.||The Bad.||The air conditioner in our room struggled with the heat of the day. It was ok at night. My partner and I have both lived in the tropics a long time, we are acclimatised. I mention this to show that it is not a Westerner straight from a cold country complaining.||There was no room fan. A simple addition that would have reduced the need for the air conditioner.||The room was not serviced in the 4 days that we were there. Bins were not emptied and we ended up with a pile of rubbish outside the room. (The hint was not taken). Toiletries like the liquid soap in the shower, soap tablets and toilet paper were not refilled or replaced. The bed was never made, there was no offer of fresh towels and we only had the original 2 bottles of water. I have stayed in many places at about half the price that we paid where all of that is done daily. I suspect that if we had asked for the room to be serviced that it may have been, but that is not the point, that level of service should be provided automatically not needed to be asked for at the advertised price||Our room had mosquitoes (bad). We asked for the room to be sprayed and were provided with a new bottle of Insect Spray (good).||A layer of dust on top surfaces and shelves plus cobwebs in the bathroom indicates that the rooms are not well maintained or that ours had been unused for a few weeks.||Restaurant||Free wifi is available in the restaurant and while we were there they played some laid back Jazz music. We did not eat there, but it seemed popular judging by the number of people who did.||Overall the place had character, but I would look elsewhere on a further visit as you can get...

Read moreI booked this hotel by mistake for my weekend get away to koh Samet. It's at Ban phe. So you take a bus to Ban Phe from Bangkok to reach here. This hotel is very near to the pier from where you can get the ferry to the islands. It is better to stay on one of the hotels on the island than staying at Ban Phe. Anyways, about the hotel. So the location is perfect. You can either walk down or take a motorcycle from the bus station to reach here. Once I reached here I saw a gorgeous restaurant. But could not find any reception. So I went inside the restaurant and asked someone to direct me to the person taking care of the hotel check ins. After 15 minutes of wait and someone arrived and asked me to pay the rent. I did that, no receipt was provided. Then I was shown the room. On the way of going towards the room there is a huge build up with beautiful trees and the garden theme. The build up is deceptive if you are staying at one of the standard rooms. Once you enter the room the first thing to notice is that there is no source of nAtural light. There is a TV which showed only static in my room. There are toiletries and two water bottles. ||||That is it. The room is kind of depressing but very cheap. The hotel is not very professional. Don't expect quick service or hotel type facilities/attitude here. Live here if you can choose some other room type or if it's only for one night and you appreciate...
