This is the Samed Resorts pier, the designated departure point for boat transfers to Koh Samet if you’ve booked a stay at any of their resorts.
The facilities are well-maintained, with a spacious parking area, an air-conditioned lounge, a couple of small shops, a coffee shop, and clean restrooms.
However, our experience today was extremely disappointing. Whilst waiting for our 11.00am boat, we decided to relax and enjoy some coffee in the lounge. Unfortunately, the atmosphere was far from relaxing. The lounge was extremely noisy due to several unsupervised children running around and shouting. Despite the disturbance, the staff made NO effort to intervene.
I approached the staff and asked them to speak with the parents, as the lounge is not a playground and many guests were clearly being disturbed. They simply apologised and took no further action. My Thai friend also complained, but again, nothing was done. It was clear that the staff were unwilling to address the issue, likely to avoid upsetting the parents.
This lack of response was incredibly disappointing, especially from a property associated with 4-star resorts. It definitely reflects poorly on their professionalism and awareness of guest comfort. A simple reminder about maintaining a quiet, respectful atmosphere in shared spaces would have gone a long way. Sadly, this experience left a negative impression.
