This tour is not a good value if your group has traveled around Asia, are Asian and/or eat Asian cuisines often, or are serious foodies. If you’re like us, I’d recommend booking a custom food tour or a personal guide, like from Your Thai Guide, who can tailor your stops. We had better food with the personal guide, and it was more affordable. For non-adventurous eaters or those unfamiliar with Asian food, Bangkok Food Tours likely will be a new, more interesting experience. Our family of 4 adults from the States visited Thailand for the first time and booked this Bangkok food tour as a private tour with hotel pick up (which incurred additional fees). The grand total came out to ~$81 USD per person (full list of food at the end). Our tour only lasted 3.5 hours, with pick up at 6:00 PM and drop off at 9:30 PM. Bangkok Food Tours needs to ask for and relay accessibility and dietary needs to the guides beforehand (which didn’t happen for us). Our guide, Tukta, was friendly but only gave a couple of lines of explanation for each stop and then described the food (we would’ve liked to learn more about the places). Her English was not as good as other tour guides we had on this trip. She asked basic questions many times such as our spice tolerance level and whether this was our first time in the city. The tuk tuks we had did not have a step to get in/out and had low ceilings and high floors, so it was difficult to crouch or crawl in and out (and we’re all between 5 feet to 5’9” tall). My sister and I felt a bit rushed and pressured by Tukta to eat quickly at the first few stops. We then visited Chinatown where vendors are on the sidewalk, so visitors walk on the street inside a traffic cone lane. Tukta often walked outside of the cones and continued on the street even when sidewalks became available, which was a bit dangerous with foreigners unfamiliar with Bangkok traffic. My mother kept some of our Chinatown leftovers but Tukta told her to leave it in the tuk tuk at the next stop. That tuk tuk broke down and the food went along with it. My parents inexplicably had three different drivers/tuks tuks throughout the night. Our stop at the flower market was super fast, we zoomed through the market without any explanation and spent most of the time there folding leaves and petals on lotus bulbs that we get to keep. The best stop for most of us was a rooftop bar across from the Wat Arun. We were told right before we arrived that there are 5 flights of stairs to get to the rooftop, so my mother stayed downstairs. The first floor doesn’t serve liquor, so we were only allowed either beer or mocktails which was disappointing. Overall, we liked the view from the bar and riding in the tuk tuks. Food: Stops in general may change based on availability. Our route is also likely different because the tuks tuks met us at our hotel. 1. Chicken curry noodles with longan juice 2. Mango with sticky rice and steamed “jack fruit” which was actually taro with coconut wrapped in egg yolks 3. A northeast region Isan restaurant with four dishes: grilled pork, papaya salad, tamarind-based soup, duck larb, and sticky rice - these dishes are usually spicy, so make sure to tell your guide the level of chilis/spice you can handle (Thai level, not American level) 4. Chinatown: Thai doughnut which is a typical fried cruller, mini coconut pancakes, taco-like crunchy crepes with a soft-meringue filling 5. Outside the Flower Market: chicken and pork grilled skewers 6. Bar: we only had beer and mocktail options, 1 drink per person 7. Crispy noodles with chicken (instead of pad thai which wasn’t available)

A memorable Tuk-Tuk night tour. A good mix of food and places to see. Guide was very informative on Thai living and Culture. Thank you!

I took this on after enjoying the XO Tours in Ho Chi Minh city. There were 10 of us from all over. Our guide was 'Mod' who was good. She knows her stuff and she was funny and charming although she does go a little over the top at times. Especially when it was late and we wanted to continue to our next destination. But this did not affect all of us as i noticed some of the tourists enjoyed her stories. The more important issue was the tuk-tuk drivers. These were independents, and not employed by the company. Hence they lack the commitment and the touch that Bangkokfoodtours needs to take them to the top. On the return to the hotel, my driver was fast and reckless with his driving and sitting at the back is uncomfortable when it is fast. They should take a leaf from XO tours in Ho Chi Minh city who hire their own riders with strict vetting procedures and all of them are very professional. 21 May 2019 - The food was good so I took the tour a second time around. Our guide was 'Paeng' and she was good. The food was good too. As per my first tour, the tuk2 driver was poor. With the guide around I had no complaints. It was only on trip back as he was reckless. Pointless to go into detail.

More than just a food tour, and one of my highlights in Bangkok!

This tour will take you to 4 food places but also 2 other cultural locations (we went to wat pho at night when it was beautifully lit up and completely empty, and the flower market, which was quite a sight to behold at night). Along the way, the tour will go into everything from Thai culture to history to language to religion. Our tour guide Olive had extremely good english and was also extremely knowledgeable. She delighted in sharing with us cultural tidbits and keeping the tour interactive, from showing us how to fold lotus flowers for offerings to explaining to us what the stupas at the temples were, what the paintings meant, and where the gold you see comes from.

Of course we can’t forget about the food itself, which was amazing. We went to several locations that can only be searched for in Thai in google maps, sampled dishes I never tried before, and even got the behind the scenes look and scoop at the chefs and the story of the restaurant. Olive explained the various cuisines and dishes we ate in detail, and as we browsed the flower market also shared with us the different essential ingredients in Thai cooking.

The atmosphere was also very conducive to mingling and socializing - I went alone but had a really good time. I also highly recommend the tour for couples too as it’s a fun thing to experience together and there are some moments (like getting drinks at the rooftop bar with a view of the river and a lit up wat arun) that are quite romantic.

I initially hesitated at the price but it was so worth it, easily one of my highlights at Bangkok and one of the best tours...

What a unique, fun experience! I have been to several food tours around the world, but this was by far one of the funnest. Even pre-tour, this company was very well-organized. We got a detailed email with PDF guide, maps and everything, and all emergency phone numbers another necessary info. Extremely helpful.

As for the tour, it was a group of almost 15 people (if I recall correctly), but each solo traveler or couple had their own dedicated tuk tuk driver - so imagine a caravan of tuk tuk's going all over the city at night, eating it up!

I love that we stopped at some popular spots, but also others where we were the only tourists (and got the oddball looks haha). One of my favorite moments though was walking into one of Bangkok's most popular temples at 11 PM. It was DESERTED, such a contrast from when I visited earlier that day. And since I had gone without a guide in the AM, I got the historical lesson during this PM food tour. So great!

Oh, and how can I forget the secret spot, on a rooftop, with beautiful views of the city? Great place for drinks - and the first round is included in your ticket. I don't want to give you any more details of the tour though because I want you to still be surprised ;)

In a nutshell, the mix of food and historical/cultural tidbits provided by our knowledgeable guide made this tour special. Also, its pace allowed for socializing and really taking in each dish, each place. And I mean, going all over the city by tuk tuk caravan? Really?! What a...
