Latife Hanim Mansion and Memorial House — Attraction in Bahriye Üçok Mahallesi

We visited the Latife Hanım Köşkü Anı Evi yesterday with the hope of experiencing a piece of Turkish history, but unfortunately, it was a disappointing visit. The mansion appeared to be completely abandoned and closed to the public. There were no signs of maintenance, and the place looked neglected and forgotten.

Since the gates were locked, we could only view the building from the outside. While the structure itself still carries historical charm, it was disheartening to see such an important cultural site in such poor condition. It felt like a missed opportunity for cultural preservation and public engagement.

Unless it is restored and reopened properly, we cannot recommend visiting this place. Hopefully, attention will be brought to its current state and efforts will be made...

Be aware of the fact that Mustafa Kemal Atatürk didn't stay here nore visited this Mansion.

This is the place where Mrs. Zübeyde (Atatürk's Mother) stayed for 3,5 weeks to recover but due to her illness she passed away.

It belonged to Ms.Latife and her family.

She offered Atatürk for his mother to stay in the mansion which also was an opportunity for Mrs.Zübeyde to meet Ms.Latife for approval to marry her son.

Mrs.Zübeyde gave a "NO GO" and died within weeks.

Atatürk's military assistant (Salih Bozok) did not have the guts to tell the truth to Atatürk and replied positively.

Malesef yıllardır bakımsız ve sürekli tadilat havasında olan tarihi bir yer. Bahçesindeki kafe isletmesi yine rabet görüyor fakat asıl bahse konu olan köşk hep kapalı. Bilgi 1860'larda yapıldığı düşünülen Uşakizade Köşkü, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk'ün eşi Latife Hanım'ın ailesinin yazlık olarak kullandığı bir evdi.1 Atatürk'ün annesi Zübeyde Hanım, 18 Aralık 1922'de hastalığı nedeniyle İzmir'e geldi ve son günlerini geçirdiği bu köşkte öldü.24]

Köşk, ileriki yıllarda adliye binası ve dershane olarak kullanıldı.[2] 2005'te Karşıyaka Belediyesi tarafından kamulaştırıldı ve 11 Ekim 2007'de restore edilmeye başladı.[2 Köşkteki mobilyalar, kullanılan eşyalar yenilendi. Kimi eşyalar bağış ve satın alma yolu ile temin edildi.

Müzede sergilenmek üzere Yılmaz Büyükerşen tarafından Eskişehir'de Atatürk, Latife Hanım ve Zübeyde Hanım'ın balmumu heykelleri yapıldı ve İzmir'e getirildi.6

Köşk, 19 Mayıs 2008'de anı evi olarak halka açıldı.[8] Resmî açılışı 9 Temmuz 2008'de gerçekleştirildi.[8]

Müze, 2008-2015 arasında 600 bin ziyaretçi ağırladı.[9]

Müze, 2016'da Kültür ve Turizm Bakanlığı tarafından "özel müze" olarak tescillendi.[10] Temmuz 2018'de müzede artırılmış gerçeklik uygulaması hizmete sunuldu.[11]

30 Ekim 2020'deki Ege Denizi depreminde köşkün hasar görmesi üzerine güvenlik riski nedeniyle müze geçici olarak kapatıldı.[12] Güçlendirme çalışmalarının ardından 2024'te yeniden...
