Maritime Museum — Attraction in Balçova

They charge foreigners twice as much and offer less than half the service. They require you to go on a turkish tour, and have none in English. Everything is written in turkish, nothing is in English.

The tour guide also seemed more interested in getting through the tour than letting us (let alone helping us as a tour guide should) see the museum. He kept telling people to hurry up. When we asked him to slow down so we could actually see the museum, he refused, claiming policy and the fact that a tour group was behind us. There are at least 15 minutes between tours, so this was obvious nonsense. There are plenty of ways to respond to that request reasonably, but he didn't even attempt to find one.

It's a shame the tours are so poorly run, because the museum does actually have interesting...

The Museum Card is not valid, but we paid a very small amount. Touring with a guide offers a much different, comprehensive and permanent learning experience. The fact that soldiers who have received maritime discipline do this shows that we have the chance to listen to competent people in their fields. Depending on the crowd, it is possible to tour for 40-60 minutes, but they ask if you want to continue for the submarine tour. It is not recommended for asthmatics and those with claustrophobia. Türkiye'nin İzmir şehrinde yer alan bir denizcilik müzesidir. Balçova ilçesindeki İnciraltı İskelesi'nde demir atmış üç müze gemide denizciliğin sosyal, tarihsel ve ekonomik gelişimine ilişkin nesneler sergilenmektedir. Müze, 1 Temmuz 2007'de ziyarete açıldı. İzmir Büyükşehir Belediyesi ve Güney Deniz Saha Komutanlığı arasında 2006'da imzalanan protokolle kurulan müze, 1 Temmuz 2007'de açıldı. Başlangıçta müzede Ege fırkateyni (F-256) ve Pirireis denizaltısı (S-343) sergilenmekteydi. 22 Mayıs 2014'ten itibaren Ege fırkateyninin üzerindeki platformda TCB-36 numaralı AB 212 sınıfı bir helikopter sergilenmeye başladı. Çanakkale Savaşı'nın 100. yıl dönümü olan 18 Mart 2015'te, Kasırga hücumbotu (P-329) müze envanterine eklendi.

TCG-PİRİ REİS🚢

TCG Pirireis (S-343), (İlk adı USS Mapiro (SS-376)) Balao sınıfı bir denizaltıdır. ABD donanmasında kullanılan mapiro adını Meksika ve Orta Amerika'nın Atlantik kıyıları ve Karayiplerde yaşayan bir balıktan almıştır.

1960'ta, Mapiro, Fleet Snorkel tipi bir denizaltıya dönüştürülmüştür. 18 Mart 1960'ta Askeri Yardım Programı dahilinde Türkiye'ye kiralanmıştır. Türk donanması tarafından TCG Pirireis (S-343) olarak yeniden adlandırılmıştır. Daha sonra Pirireis, 16 Mayıs 1960'ta San Francisco'dan ayrılıp, Panama Kanalı'nı geçerek İstanbul'a gelmiştir. 23 Haziran 1960'ta Pirireis Gölcük'e varmış ve Türk donanmasına katılmıştır. Türk Donanması'nda 18.03.1960-20.11.1973 tarihleri arasında hizmet vermiştir. 1 Ağustos 1973'te denizaltı ABD Donanma Kütüğü'nden ayrılarak tamamıyle Türkiye'ye satılmıştır. 1973 yılında Türk donanması tarafından görevine son verilmiştir.
