Read moreCapela De São Basílio A primeira coisa que chama a atenção na entrada da capela de são basílio, datado do século xi, são os túmulos lado a lado e o arcossólio (nicho do túmulo). Estes túmulos pertencem às pessoas e seus parentes que contribuíram para a construção / escavação / talha do edifício ou veneráveis / honrosos clérigos.
Na abside principal da capela, jesus está retratado com a bíblia sagrada na mão à direita da abside, que é uma posição muito rara. Na face frontal da abside estão as representações fragmentárias de maria e do menino jesus, com a pessoa que edificou a capela a seus pés. Esta figura só pode ser vista se você olhar muito de perto.
Ainda não sabemos a quem pertence o arcossólio dentro da nave. No entanto, segundo a opinião comum dos pesquisadores, as três cruzes de malta na cópia que cobre o arcossólio representam a trindade. No lado direito do nicho do túmulo, há uma representação de São Jorge matando o dragão com uma lança na mão direita. Na parede à esquerda da abside estão representações de São Basílio perto de São Teodoro, matando o dragão assim como São Jorge.
