Located at the lower entrance of the site, the Ephesus Experience Museum uses cutting-edge technology, projection mapping, sound design, and narration to transport visitors back to ancient times. Rather than displaying only artifacts in glass cases, it brings the city’s people, buildings, and stories to life.

As you walk through the dark, atmospheric corridors, you're surrounded by scenes of ancient markets, temples, and streets recreated with light and movement. There's even a dramatic retelling of the Apostle Paul's time in Ephesus, adding a deeply spiritual and historical layer for Christian visitors. However, one of the final scenes, which seemed to glorify the worship of the goddess Artemis, felt a bit unsettling from a faith perspective.

This museum is included with your main site ticket, so it’s absolutely worth taking the time to visit. Even a short tour helps you visualize the ancient city and gives important historical context that enriches your Ephesus experience.

Öncelikle dünyanın en önemli turistik yerlerinden biri olan Efes’in tam da ortasına müze adı altında kondurulmuş böyle zevksiz devasa bir yapının şehrin tarihi dokusuyla kontrast ve rahatsız edici bir siluet oluşturduğunu belirtmek gerekir. Diğer yandan burasının, bir müze değil olsa olsa oldukça sıradan bulduğum bir ses ve ışık gösteri yeri olarak adlandırılması gerekir. Çünkü ortada sergilenen herhangi bir obje ya da sanat eseri yok. Büyük beklenti içinde girdiğimiz toplam 20 dakikalık “oda gösterilerinde", adına “Deneyim Müzesi” denilmesine rağmen, Efes’in tarihi, sosyal ve kültürel zenginliklerine ilişkin elle tutulur hiçbir deneyim yaşamadık. İzleyicilerin ayakta olması ve odalardaki çok sayıda direk nedeniyle görüş alanının oldukça sınırlı hale gelmesi; Efes’e yönelik canlandırmalardan çok, gereksiz ve abartılı ışık oyunlarının fazlalığı; aksiyon filmlerindeki gibi aşırı ses patlamaları ve gürültü yüzünden girişte verilen seslendirme sisteminin son ses düzeyinde bile ne anlattığının duyulmaması; Efes’i tüm yönleriyle yaşatan ve izleyicileri içine çeken bir ortamın yaratılamamış olması bu mekânın (müze diyemiyorum) en büyük eksiklikleri. Günümüzdeki teknolojik olanaklar bulunmamasına rağmen 25 yıl önce gittiğim Disneyland’daki benzer gösteriler bile bundan çok daha başarılıydı. Üstelik, müze kartın geçerli olmaması, mekânın özel işletme tarafından işletilmesi ve Haziran 2024 itibariyle 425 TL’lik giriş fiyatının Türkiye ölçeğinde çok yüksek olması da ayrı bir yorum gerektiriyor. Sonuç olarak bu mekânı ziyaret etmezseniz bir şey kaybetmiş olmazsınız. Burası yerine bence olağanüstü zenginlikleri içinde barındıran “Yamaç Evler”i ziyaret edin. Çok daha fazla şey kazanırsınız. First of all, it should be noted that such a unpleasant huge building under the name of a museum which placed in the middle of Ephesus one of the most important touristic places in the world, creates an extremely contrast and disturbing silhouette with the historical texture of the Ephesus. On the other hand, this should not be called a museum, but rather a sound and light show, which I found quite ordinary. Because there are no any objects or works of art on display. Despite being called the "Experience Museum", we did not have any tangible experience of the historical, social and cultural riches of Ephesus in the 20-minute "room shows", which we entered with great expectations. The biggest deficiencies of this place (I can't call it a museum) is that: The field of views are quite limited due to the audience being standing and the large number of poles in the rooms; there are the abundance of unnecessary and exaggerated light plays rather than introduction of Ephesus; there is the inability to hear what the voice-over system at the entrance given even at full volume level due to excessive sound explosions and noise like in action movies. Even similar shows in Disneyland, which I went to 25 years ago, were much more successful even though it lacks today's technological facilities.
