I’d placed an order for 11 GIA certified Diamonds of .30 cents each (11 x .30 cents = 3.3 carat ) from Cara and had the official invoice as well. (I ordered the best quality Diamonds around my Emerald gemstone for astrological purpose)
When I went to collect the ring, the GIA certificates mentioned had somany variations and was different from what I ordered. When I asked them, they tried to convince and fool me, saying that Flawless is the same as Internally Flawless and that modifications of polish is normal on Diamonds..which didn’t quite seem right to me. They even told me to cross check with GIA and I told them I certainly would.
We went to the GIA office in Dubai which was closed…so we called the GIA office in Mumbai and they confirmed, that there is a major difference in quality of our original ordered diamonds and it is certainly not the same and a much lower quality. Also that the pricing would be different and much lower for the certificates issued to us and also that GIA certificates state the exact intricate detail on every diamond, hence there is an exclusive certificate for each diamond.
When I called back Mr Aman from Cara and told them, he immediately offered a discount in price or to get me my exact order as stated and paid for in the original invoice. I told them I’m on my way back to Cara and canceled the order immediately and got my Emerald gemstone back.
I even gifted Mr Aman a double Jack Daniels gift pack and also promised to offer him and his colleagues extra good tips so that my ring should be done well and they could be more please kindly attentive to my order..which is actually a part of their job.
The manager even met us, few stores after their store in gold and diamond park, as they didn’t want anyone or other customers knowing about it. He apologized and said, they have made a mistake and offered again to remake the ring according to what was mentioned in the ordered invoice or even a good discount on the current order. I told him, that a customer that wants and is willing to pay for GIA certification, most certainly has their facts right and even after identifying to their colleagues about modifications in GIA certificates from the actual order, they still tried to play us and I don’t trust the authenticity anymore. When we went to other stores and mentioned our experience, they already knew it was them and apparently ours was not the first case. I was also told that the owner is Anil who sits in Cara stores itself and is well aware and all this fraudulence is happening under his instructions and I was also told to do a consumer case as well. I’m sharing my experience, just as a heads up as this is a first case, I have experienced here and still very shocked at their audacity.
My Emerald gemstone itself costed me 20K AED ( 5445 US $ Approx) and I traveled twice all the way from Dubai to India to just to get my gemstone. For every trip, I went and came back, I had to do 5 Covid tests..how could they think, it is even ok to try and fool a customer? They also had other Emerald gemstones which they were trying so strongly to sell my friend, as she was looking for an Emerald gemstone as well..but we saw the quality and told them they all had black dots and we wouldnt be interested in that low type quality. I wish I could give them no stars, they most certainly dont deserve any.
P.S - A GIA certified diamond is the most genuine and authentic report, I was informed that various other certifications can be amended..that is why I was adamant on GIA, regardless I still went through the most...

Read moreThey tried to defraud me with zirconia when I had paid for diamonds.
Upon entering their shop, I had met with the manager of Cara‘s diamond division. I had previously written with him on WhatsApp, where I had clarified that I wanted my paved Audemars Piguet watch cleaned and a few small missing diamonds replaced, with real diamonds and not zirconia. He had agreed, specifically to using authentic diamonds only (and I have messages as proof). I brought him the watch and upon my request he once again verbally confirmed that he would use real diamonds only, and so I paid, for real diamonds.
I then returned to collect it a few days later. They informed me that the work was just done a few moments ago, and that I could go to the workshop to collect it from there. In the workshop, the customer service representative told me it was still being worked on, and brought me to the worker that was in the process of actually setting the stones. Out of curiosity, I asked that worker which type of diamond he‘s using, to which he responded „no boss, this zircon“. Would I not have asked the worker directly, there in the workshop, I would have never found out. And that, I believe, is what Cara was hoping for and preying on.
I confronted the manager, telling him that we agreed on authentic diamonds, and that them trying to sneak in zirconia instead, hoping that I wouldn‘t notice, is unbelievably conniving. I demanded my money back in full, which they were very quick to return to me in cash, knowing I had caught them red-handed, in the act, and that I had proof. I was just seconds away from calling Dubai Police‘s 901 call center, knowing that this is an absolute no-go in a city as well protected as Dubai, and many are telling me that I still should pursue this legally.
Be careful with this place. Don‘t let them sell you zirconia when you pay...
