Good stretch of beach..quite clean..mostly sand..few small pebbles..surprised that there are many shells..good for kids. Smattering of shops along seafront selling midprice to low expensive ladies gents clothes..small supermarket.. a very nice fish and chip shop (tasty fish and chips..i recommend) selling also soft drinks..milkshakes etc. Further down the road off the main drag to left are a small collection of independant shop's..a gallery..surf type gear..picture gallery and store selling outdoor type clothing. I believe the are a couple of pubs too but did not go in. A short walk up the main road..on the right just past the railway bridge is a well stocked SPAR convenience store/post office..visited twice ...staff helpful and welcoming..opposite store are public toilets. To sum up.. very nice beach plenty of room when I visited...toilets to hand..some nice shops to browse and buy.
N.B. Try the ice cream shop on the sea front by the pier..delicious flavours..home made....painted...

Because Aberdyfi itself is quite small and hugs the coast, it doesn't appear overly 'touristy!' The beach front in the own itself isn't full of tat shops and their isn't an amusement arcade to be seen.
The beach itself is actually miles long so if you go, and can stomach the walk, go along the beach from the town in the direction of Tywyn and you can be assured of finding your own area of empty space away from the crowds who tend to gather close the the car park on the promenade.
It's a sandy beach but if the tide is out all the way, closer to town there are areas that look a bit muddy. It is an estuary after all. Further round towards Tywyn it is sand and dunes with a proper links style golf course between you and the nearest road so...
Read moreWe visit late in the season when it's a little quieter but you can still sit on the benches at the beach and enjoy the panoramic view across the estuary. The car park is a little pricey at minimum 4 HR stay payment of £3.30 but it's still a pleasant place to visit. The lifeboat station and shop is interesting when open and free toilets are available. Many shops along the front with a few cafés and some rather expensive cloths shops . A visit to the ice-cream shop is essential prior to visiting the beach. Also they old wooden quay is worth a visit just be careful not to fall off the side as the water flows rapidly past it. It's well...
