The place was very quiet but welcoming and we were allowed the dogs in the main bar area.

We ordered and paid for our food via their app and I asked one of the staff if one of the starters could come out as main and then the rest as normal. To start with the manager came over and said they didn’t have any of the festive menu we ordered so we had to choose something else.

After sorting all that our food started to come out but all at once so we had all the starters and mains together. My partners burger was ordered without tomatoes but came with them, thankfully not something someone would have an allergic reaction to. According to the server it was our fault as we didn’t add a note that starters come before mains 🙄 even though I had spoken to one of them.

My substitute steak which was suppose to be medium was well done but the rest of the food was good and we can’t fault that.

Complained to the manager who apologised and said he would adjust the bill, still waiting on this refund (adjustment)

As everything had come out at once we were unable to eat everything, we waited for staff to come over before having to find them paying on the one of the machines in the bar. We asked for a takeaway box and was given a sheet of tin foil.

All this wouldn’t have been a real issue if they had been busy as mistakes happen, but all the staff were just chatting in the corner at the time of our visit or playing machines. So maybe some more attention to their customers would solve...

Called in on a Friday at 5pm. I was alone at the time, but had four friends joining me later. I was shown to a large table, and although it was fairly busy with a lot of ‘reserved’ signs on tables, the young man said not to worry about what time my friends would turn up (they weren’t eating), the table was mine whatever. I ordered a 8oz rump steak, medium-rare. It arrived after about 20 minutes and was cooked to perfection and was tender, tasty, and well seasoned. The steak came with onion rings, peas, a flat mushroom, half a tomato, and chips, the latter of which were excellent. On the table were Heinz tomato sauce, HP sauce, Sarson's vinegar, and, (brilliantly), Colman’s mustard in a squeezy dispenser (don’t go near used glass jar mustard...have you seen the amount of people who lick their knives, then go back in the jar for more mustard? YUK!). So a big tick for whoever put some thought into that. Another plus was the (I assume) manager, who was very attentive, checking in on customers without being intrusive. He was also greeting people at the door in a cheery and professional manner. The two girls and the young man behind the bar were very welcoming too. The menus on my table were a bit sticky, as were others I could see which needed a wipe, also would have liked some beer mats on the tables, but these are minor points to put right and didn’t detract from the overall...

Disappointed on the whole. Some serving staff in need of training. We ordered starters and mains for 4 people. Starters arrived after 30 minutes and we waited another 30 minutes for our mains. Unfortunately 2 of our mains were served to a couple on another table who looked confused and poked about at the food for while. After a few minutes the waitress came back from the kitchen to the couple’s table. I could see a discussion taking place. The waitress then picked up the meals, bought them over to our table and asked if I had ordered the Chicken Tikka. I thought ‘surely she doesn’t expect me to accept a plate of food that was left in front of another customer while she went to the kitchen’. So, for the reasons that it had been on another customer’s table I said politely that ‘I would rather not have that Chicken Tikka’. The waitress was surprised then dejected and argued that it hadn’t been touched by the guests at the other table. Five minutes later I was bought slightly warm Chicken Tikka. My companions found out from other staff that it was indeed the same plate that had been served to me after it had been back to the kitchen. Later we were told that the manager was too busy to see us, although it didn't seem busy even for a Monday in September. For me and my companions to be treated like that was a real low in customer...

I’ve been here multiple times and had such a great experience with amazing food, unfortunately today really let me down in multiple ways and I’m praying it’s just a one off but I do think this has put us off coming again. I’m unsure if maybe there’s a different management or staff but this experience was just a real let down for us. We ordered on the app as the menu encourages this, to then wait half an hour for our drinks, we even had to chase them down and our food came before the drinks. The food came and we received no napkins, no knives and forks etc. and had to hail someone down for these. LASTLY, we had a cowboy burger and understandably beef can sometimes come pink but one of the burgers came looking completely pink and raw inside! I hate complaining about things and was hoping someone would come and check back to see if our food was okay just so we could make them aware but nobody did. They did seem a little busy so maybe that is why, if it was just one complaint I wouldn’t have minded however it was multiple. Truly a shame as we loved coming here previously

My friend, who lives here locally & I popped in here one wet & dreary Sunday afternoon recently. It was dreary outside and not that much better inside. The guy behind the bar seemed rather bored but was civil enough and took our orders of a couple of beers. Another guy working there (the owner or manager?) who my friend apparently knew came past us but made no real attempt to engage in any friendly banter. His lugging stuff around the pub seemed to be his priority. There were some vestiges of some sad looking Christmas decorations on one wobbly table. The guy behind the bar sighed that they had been put up at the insistence of the brewery. Anyway, we supped on our beers, and watched one of the TV screens showing World Cup rugby. We waited until half time and then tried to get back to my friends home to watch the second half in more happier surroundings.
