Lovely little park for the fishing and nature side of things..had an enjoyable days fishing in the sun and now awaiting a dry day to return and may even buy a fishing season ticket.
UPDATE..
Having fished here many many times now i have found it difficult to fish way too often due to weed on and under the surface..fluff off the trees settle on the water and sticks to you line and blocks up rod eye rings. The river is overgrown with bank weeds like 3-4 feet high and difficult to access river bank. The biggest downfall i find at barnwell park is the flaunting and lack of enforcement of the dogs on lead rules..many times dogs have been allowed in the lake swimming next pitch to were im fishing and 3 times now dogs suddenly attacking my bait stand with face in my luncheon meat pot.. ive paid for a season ticket which i am now regretting and am fishing elsewhere , i will still fish at barnwell now and again as it is a nice park , so although season tickets are cheap i guess it takes into account the difficulties you may encounter whilst fishing so...
Read moreFound it by looking through Google maps. It has three lakes although that's all I found. But lovely to walk around. good paths and a few hides to watch the birds on the water.it does have kingfishers. It also has a Riverside to walk along. At the moment we are in the middle of the heat wave so some of the water levels are a bit on the low side but don't let that put you off it is a lovely place. There is a visitor center with info of what to lookout for. And and a camera on the bird feeder out side. The rangers office is in there too. Go out through the back door and you come to the small café. Two very nice ladies run the café. Go through to the outside area and there is a outside area to have your drink and biccies over looking a small lake with seagulls piedwagtails and many more. The car park charges are £3 for 4hrs or £5 for the day. But anything can change. Take your own picnic there are a few small huts around to sit in....
