Myself, my husband, brother and sister in-law went to the Rose and Crown Saturday night after a recommendation from a friend. From the outside it just looks like any pub in a small town, but when you walk through the door, it's a step back into the sixties with an American theme. We were told to find a table towards the back where the food is served, the landlady came to chat to us and we asked about the great theme she had going on in the pub, she told us all about herself and husband's travels and how each piece had been collected whilst travelling America. The menu has something for everyone and is all freshly cooked and homemade. We ordered onion rings and cheesy garlic bread whilst waiting for our mains, lots of cheese on the bread and the onion rings were crispy on the outside but the onion was lovely and moist inside. For mains, 2 of us chose the steak pie which was served with chips and peas with a mushy option. I chose creamy chicken which was served with rice and one of us chose the special which was cheese and onion pie which again had chips and peas, all of our meals were excellent and perfectly cooked, the portions were big enough to fill you enough to hardly squeeze in a pudding. The two men managed to have room for Apple pie and something else with chocolate and ice cream. The main courses were all £11.95 and puddings all £5.95 which were very good value considering the size of the portions, the freshness and all homemade. We all said we will definitely be going back to try something else and maybe one of the alcoholic...
Read moreSeven of us booked for lunch and received a really warm and friendly greeting on arrival, got our drinks at the bar and then took our seats anticipating the arrival of the menu, now this is my type of reading, so much variety so difficult to choose but I went for the turkey, stuffing and cranberry roll with chips, I asked if it was possible to have a little gravy to go with it and was happy that this was possible. When the food arrived my jaw dropped, portion size was really good and my little bit of gravy was my own gravy boat full, boy was this good gravy, I even dipped my roll (you can take the girl out of London etc.....) devoured every scrap on my plate. We were all like pigs in the proverbial, every option selected went down a storm. Next time I'm definitely having the Morgan's Steak pie. Kim and Mark are the business, keep doing the same guys. See you...
Read moreFabulous find. We wanted to go for lunch somewhere a bit different and we came across the Rose and Crown. We received a very warm welcome when we walked through the door, as did our 2 small dogs. We asked if we could have a table for lunch, to which we were told it would be about a 20min wait. Absolutely fine, grabbed a drink and went and sat in the very comfortable 60s rock and roll dining area. Kim came over with the menus, to which I was only really interested in the burger. My wife had a tuna salad and absolutely loved it, as for myself, the burger was quite simply outstanding, I've had a few in my time and trust me, this is an absolutely amazing burger, I devoured it, with a smile 😃 Kim and Mark give great friendly service and offer a fantastic pub and dining experience. We will be back for a...
