Cold Knap Park is a well-preserved urban public park of the 1920s with a unified and distinctive style. The design of the park takes good advantage of its seaside position and includes a promenade, from which there are fine views of the shore and Bristol Channel. It is a green flag park.
One of the most popular all year round destinations in Barry, Knap Gardens are an oasis of calm from the wind blowing in from the Cold Knap, with its flower-filled borders, a sunken garden and gently tinkling fountain.
Summer or winter, Knap Gardens is a great place for families and dog walkers to go for a stroll or a bracing walk. The focal point of the garden is a harp-shaped lake with ducks and swans, and during the summer months, the occasional remote-controlled boat.

Although there are some steps in parts of the park most of the paths are fairly level and made from tarmac. There are also ramps providing access to the promenade located at each end of the promenade and sets of steps located...
Read moreLovely place to visit, the weather was great on the day and we all enjoyed it. We were able to walk to Watch Tower Bay and back through Knap Gardens before the tide came in. It was a lovely place to have a picnic and take pictures, the Pebble Beach on the other side of the walkway was just fantastic and the scenery quite exquisite.
I wish I could have experienced sunset, I can only imagine how beautiful it would look. There's always a next time I guess, one thing I remember noticing was the air.was so crisp and clean and it was really relaxing and refreshing. I would highly recommend a visit if you are in the area, it is well worth the time.
Parking might be a bit of an issue but we got there a bit early and were able to park quite close. Don't be put off though as there are still some side roads within walking distance that have no parking...
