I must admit when I first heard the name I didn’t really comprehend how beautiful this national trust site actually was. The parkland is extensive and you can walk, hike and ride for miles around it.
In all honesty this doesn’t even begin to give justice to good description of the park. The lake is the jewel of the site with a walk around over good ground equating to about 4 miles or 6.5Km. About half way round the lake there is a pretty good outdoor cafe with toilets just behind it and so it makes the walk a lot more pleasant for those taking a stroll. I now walk or run around the lake almost everyday and I have yet to find it boring.
The wildlife is extensive and the resident geese have just had an astounding number of offspring.
There are cycle paths in place and are marked very well although a number of cyclists tend to ignore the signage !! The walk ms around the parkland are numerous and allow you to complete very short walks or for the more energetic, ones that can take all day. A number of schools use the parkland to let their students practice for their Duke of Edinburgh expeditions (which is fun to watch when they hold the maps the wrong way !!)
There are a number of car parks although those inside the grounds are sometimes a little congested due to the volume of traffic and the fact that there is one entrance into the site that you need to either have your membership scanned at or pay the entry fee. There is standard parking but they have accessible parking and electrical outlets for re-charging your electric cars.
There is a visitor centre that regularly has exhibitions; a gift shop (that I spend way too much time in); an ice cream parlour (not always open), and a cafe that serves good food (although a little expensive) with staff that are friendly and very welcoming.
All in all, I would heartily recommend spending the day here if you find yourself at a loose end (or even if you don’t !!), it’s well...

Clumber Park is an absolute gem! From the moment you arrive, you're greeted by stunning scenery, peaceful woodland, and the vast open beauty of the park’s landscape. Whether you're walking, cycling, or simply relaxing with a picnic, there's something magical about this place that makes you instantly unwind.
The lake is breathtaking — calm, serene, and full of wildlife. We walked the lakeside trail and stopped several times just to take in the view. The historic Chapel of St Mary the Virgin is a must-see — it feels like stepping into a storybook with its gothic architecture and tranquil surroundings.
The walled kitchen garden is beautifully maintained and a joy to stroll through, and we loved the café nearby serving locally grown produce — the cakes were delicious! There are also plenty of clean facilities, a lovely gift shop, and loads of space for the kids (and dogs!) to run around safely.
We hired bikes and explored the forest trails which were really well marked and accessible. Everything is so well organised and clearly cared for — it’s obvious how much thought the National Trust has put into making this a welcoming, inclusive place.
Highly recommended for families, nature lovers, and anyone looking to escape into a peaceful bit of countryside. We’ll definitely be returning — Clumber Park is one of the best days out we’ve had in...
Read moreClumber Park is one of our favourite go-to spots for a relaxed walk and a proper nature reset. The walk around the lake is about 5K and honestly, it’s so pretty and peaceful — a mix of shaded forest trails, wide open views, and even a few dedicated paths just for pedestrians or bikes. Super pram-friendly and ideal for families.
There’s loads of parking, but depending which field they’re using (like Highfield), it can be a bit of a trek from the car to the main bit — so just a heads-up if you’ve got little ones or a lot to carry.
There are two cafés — one near the Sables courtyard with indoor seating, and a little van down by the lake that’s perfect for hot drinks, sandwiches and snacks during your walk. And excitingly, they’re about to open a new dessert and ice cream parlour in the Sables soon — so we’ll definitely be back for that! 🍦
Make sure you check out the Kitchen Gardens in summer — they’re absolutely full of colourful flowers, and the grapes in the greenhouse are amazing when they’re in season.
It’s brilliant for kids too, especially in summer when they do the Summer of Play activities. Whether you’re wandering with a pram, out with the grandparents, or meeting up with friends, Clumber always feels like a peaceful little...
