We were lucky to go to Godolphin House on the first day of the season. Its an amazing house. On the outside you really see its Tudor age. The inside is wonderful as you can see its been a family home. It's cosy, it's comfortable yet still has all that history. When walking round I was very surprised to see a very modern kitchen and up to date modern bathrooms.. Ofcourse thats when the penny dropped. If you can afford to stay here you can book the whole house with 6 bedrooms. I would love to stay here. However for those of us who can't afford to stay it's wonderful being able to look round when it's not booked up. They have a lovely cafe where we had coffee and cake. The grounds are pretty immense so are worth walking round.

I visited in May half term with my wife and two children. We were only there for a couple of hours but we enjoyed the visit. The gardens are not very big but they are pretty. It was a nice quiet place to visit and plenty of space to picnic and for children to run around. The buildings are well preserved and it is interesting to walk around. There seemed to be some nice walks in the area but we didn't have time to try those. The price of a cream tea was riciculous though. Over £7 for one scone and presumably a small pot of tea.

Nice national trust site with garden or woodland walks. Plenty of bird activity even around the entrance.A couple of things for the children drawing, little lawn mower etc in the potting shed in the dairy area they can learn to milk a cow. Nice day out replenished energy with refreshments in the cafe.

Wow! An amazing property with a fascinating story. We did get tickets to see inside the house, which was the icing on the cake - due to it only being open at restricted times. Lovely grounds and walks. It was a rather wet afternoon so we didn’t go up Godolphin Hill, next time for sure. Do visit the cider house where there’s a really informative 10 min video, giving you a real insight into the house and it’s ongoing restoration. Nice little cafe which was really busy, so had a takeaway tea in the sheltered courtyard. Warm and friendly staff/volunteers who have great passion...
