Read moreAs locals, we regularly visit Gadolphin Hill, and park vans in the associated car parks. On one particular day, we arrived just after dinner, but paid for an all day stay on the car park at the ticket machine, and made the tickets clearly visible. Two vans, so two all day tickets (as stated, 'allowed to stay until dusk').
But yet, at around 17:10, two female National Trust employees/volunteers drove into the car park, and parked up at the side of us, engine running, and proceeded to power trip, asking, but in a condescending manner, "you know you are not allowed to stay here overnight don't you!?", - what made this even more pathetic, was the fact that we clearly had purchased car park tickets, for all day, and for both vans, and there were several other occupied vehicles in and around the same car park, which they had to drive past to get to us,... and yet, they never said a word to anyone else?, clearly discrimination, because we had camper vans. This is not a manicured site but gives the appearance of being managed well. The children love the activity barn where they coloured in pictures of bluebells. They were also keen to show us the cow in the milking parlour and how yo milk it. Their all time favourite is of course the mud kitchen. How disappointed they were to discover that it had all dried up due to a few days of dry, sunny weather. The children are five and three years old! A lovely place with many opportunities to walk on several footpaths of varying lengths. Beautiful countryside with a wealth of birdsong....
