Hive Beach is undeniably a beautiful place to visit. Sadly it has become too popular, trying to find parking has become more difficult each year we visit. And it has become more dangerous due to drivers ignoring the one way system and driving the wrong way around the car to pinch spaces. There is no one checking on who is parking in Blue Badges.

On top of this the little Cafe that for years has severed everyone has become extremely elitist. And too many of these people have now ruined the atmosphere and fun in visiting Hive Beach.

Please read the warnings regarding the cliffs there have been multiple rock falls in the last 3 years (2021-23) and it's more down to luck that no one has been injured. Sadly people have lost their lives in the past not listening and heeding the warnings.

If visiting I strongly suggest purchasing food in town or on the way or bring food and a flask of coffee or hot water with you from home. As prices in the shack are a blatant rip off and not of the...

beautiful beach, very well looked after, clean and peaceful at busier times of the year. we saw plentiful of the common jellyfish 🪼 which was a nice surprise (the ones that are not harmful!) the shingle hurt under the feet, for someone with sensitive feet, but a pair of beach shoes and all is well. there is plenty of parking, with overflow parking. prices of the carpark i would say is quite reasonable, and happy to pay £10 a day, but there is hourly charges if you didn't want to stay all day. free parking for national trust members. there is a nice looking cafe, but didn't eat there as we brought our own snacks and drinks. and there is clean toilets. there is also paths that lead upto the clifftops, which I would only assume the veiws would be incredible, as I didn't go for that walk but certainly will be back to find out 😁 overall the best day out on the beach we've had in a long time. 10/10 5 stars...

The whole day was a wonderful experience- directions easy, parking clear and a person helped direct, welcome was pleasant and helpful and in fact he walked with me to show me where & how to get the parking ticket. There are two cafés- one a sit-in restaurant the other a hot food take away. Facilities (loos) clean and one level clearly signposted and close to cafés and parking. The rest is our Creator's beautiful hand to view and explore- a gritty beach, ancient cliffs and cliff walks, with careful NT safety notices as appropriate, fabulous coastal paths to east and west, for example WestCliff just a mile and a half walk, or down to the little village with buses going further afield. NT also has created- a lovely meadow bordered by sunflowers 🌻 and notices to remind us of nature and it's possible dangers: Be aware of adders! A place to mark in...

Large dog friendly beach with good views of the distinctive golden sandstone cliffs that characterise this stretch of the Jurassic Coast. Plenty of parking is available, managed by the National Trust. Charges aren't cheap but members park free by scanning their card at the machine. A little café at Hive Beach provides refreshments, and toilet facilities are available. An enjoyable clifftop walk heads west towards West Bay. The footpath passes between drystone walls, taking in pleasant views before dropping down to the beach near a stream outlet. The constantly eroding cliffs are rich with fossils, as interesting up close as they are impressive from a distance. Swimming isn't recommended at Hive Beach unless you're experienced, as the beach shelves steeply and there's no lifeguard service.

A quite large carpark on a hill side, undergoing some work just now (June 2021) with a good size overflow area. BE WARNED the new solar assisted ticket machines only take cash or scan National Trust cards NO FACILITY in this age of the cashless society for debit or credit cards. You can pay using your phone, in an area of poor to no signal. Even the local council has card accepting machines. I am told lots of NT sites are the same, so remember to take a bag of coins when you visit any NT property. The NT should do better. Moan over. The beach and walks are lovely, with extensive views and only gentle slopes to negotiate. The beach is pebbly with sand closer to the sea.
