Very good factory tour for about £15 for 2 adults and 2 children. There was a good introductory video about the history of the family run company and then you went into the rock room. The guide was very good at explaining and all the staff answered all the questions in detail and were very friendly. Around the tour there were little sample sweets you could try. We also did the rock rolling for an extra £1.50 each and considering a piece of rock that size would cost at least £2 in a shop, you got the experience of watching them assemble it, rolling it yourself and having it customised with an initial of your choice it was really good and well worth it. After watching them make rock, and the process of creating and rolling, you move on through the factory. They have a model of their original shop and a model of how the family used to make sweets in a household kitchen. There are a few more rooms including a biscuit room, chocolate and packing room with more samples along the way. The entire factory is really good and the products from the shop are delicious and there is so much choice. You can buy great value bags of misshapen or broken rock and lovely cinder toffee (mmmmm our favourite). Would definitely recommend for a trip but don't expect to be there for the whole day. It's a good way to spend a couple of hours and there is a playbarm and café for a...

I revisited today after attending years ago when I was younger, I think a bit of an upgrade is required in terms of fitting everyone in, but I understand it is a working factory so some things can’t be helped.

Enjoyed making rock and watching the process too, the smell of biscuits in the next section is amazing!

After that there’s the history of rock/John Bull, followed by the chocolate section, and packaging machine for boiled sweets in the centre.

Gets a bit confusing where to go after the boiled chocolate section, and to be honest there’s a general lack of direction in the place, we walked through a couple of doors after that we weren’t 100% sure were part of the tour, but they were. A little more direction and updated signage etc would probably help, but this wouldn’t put me off going again.

It can get very busy and this doesn’t help with keeping up where you’re going, but it’s a nice place and not too expensive!

Gift shop is great and has a lot of factory misshapes/rock ends,...

  • STAY CLEAR * (don’t visit at lunch time as the company Is closed for lunch break, and the website mistakenly does not state this information) Turned up for a day out, arrived to find a note on the door advising that the factory is shut completely fine. Yes fair enough every one is entitled to a break/lunch and we was not in the slightest disputing this with the member of staff who was very upfront went we spoke to her. We went to further enquire for extra information and was confronted with a very rude, unhelpful member of staff not sure of her name as no name tag but middle aged woman with short dark brown/black hair and defiantly needs a revision on how to speak and deal with members of the public. Completely put us off wanting to visit again and we didn’t even step foot in the place. Wouldn’t recommend at all and will not be coming back. Very...

Was our first time. You can now make chocolate lollys which you can pay at the desk, doesn't give you an option for it online, only for the rock at the moment. My eldest made a rock and a chocolate lolly. We really enjoyed ourselves and staff are brilliant and thoughtful, my daughter had made a bit of a smaller rock than everyone else so she got an extra rock already made. In the packing room it is very noisy and my daughter has quite sensitive ears and was holding her ears while we waited to make some chocolate lollys, one of the staff members came over and gave us some ear plugs for her to use. You can also have some sweets, biscuits and chocolate samples as you go throuhh the factory. Would definitely go again. 👍

We visited on a Thursday in term time and was hoping to walk around the factory and roll some rock but the factory was not open to the public. Instead we visited the factory shop and were advised by the friendly staff that the factory is only open on bank holidays and in the kids holidays. The factory shop had some good deals on mid shapen rock, fudge, coconut ice and lots of goodies. Definitely visit the factory shop as well as the shops in the towns because they have different deals. The shops had bags of broken peanut brittle that the factory shop didn’t have and the factory had the bags of broken rock for a pound that the shops didn’t have.
