Stupidly unnecessary restrictions, "can't bring a dog in here because the cafe has a door open and there's things down low...". Dogs are allowed in many many catering establishments so don't use rubbish excuses, many more families have dogs since lockdown and like to take them with them. If the issue is with low level stock then don't put breakable things down low, it's quite simple. Children and feet are at a low level and can easily knock things,so are they not allowed either? I'd rather you just be honest and say it's our place and we don't like dogs. It's ok, we don't like people that don't like dogs. I think we can say that we won't be back and spending money here. Shame.
Edit: I have noted the response from the owner and feel that this doesn't answer the points. Low down fragile items - I am sure that children, or misplaced feet, are as much or more of a risk to these items than dogs. Dogs are at a level to actually see the items and avoid them rather than a clumsy foot or active child. The Food Hygiene Regulations prevent dogs from being in the area where food is prepared. Unless dogs are going to roam off lead in the cafeteria/dining area and have free access into the kitchen, then there is no reason under the regulations to ban them. Dogs are fine in the areas of a restaurant where the food is consumed. It's a choice that has been made not to have dogs in the centre but please don't...
Read moreGreat place to browse or buy. The building is divided up with several sellers specialising in mostly craft wares and gifts although, although there is a vintage coin store and one our two vintage stores. There is a cafe inside serving a range of hot and cold food and drinks. Great place for winter visits and we rated them 5/5 on our soup and a roll review. For the summer there is another outward facing cafe for drinks snack and ice cream. Seating is also available outside.
Spread over 2 floors with a fairly narrow staircase (pic in another review)and no lift we were aware of. We rated 5 stars as still a good range of gifts and crafts on the ground floor for those not able to get up the stairs. We visited on a number of occasions throughout the year. Can get busy at peak times. Parking close by in a...
Read moreTHE best café food I have ever had. Fresh ingredients, wonderful presentation and exquisite taste and flavour. Highly recommend the ploughman's and anything on the specials board. They also have a great kid's menu for under 7's that is equally great food. The service is wonderful and suitably priced for the quality delivered.
The arts & crafts centre is a wonderful gem within this little village, showcasing up to 20 shops varying from jewellery and artwork to home décor and health and beauty. There is also a wonderful little sweet shop attached with anything your heart desires!
An absolute must to visit and will most definitely be returning...
