Newhaven Lighthouse in Edinburgh is a hidden gem along the city's coastline, offering a tranquil escape with its maritime charm. The picturesque setting, overlooking the North Sea, provides a serene backdrop for those seeking a peaceful retreat. The lighthouse, with its distinctive red and white stripes, stands as a beacon of both safety and aesthetic beauty.

Visitors can enjoy leisurely walks along the coastal paths, taking in the refreshing sea breeze and stunning views. The historic significance of Newhaven, once a bustling fishing village, adds depth to the experience. The lighthouse itself, though not open to the public, contributes to the area's maritime allure.

Photographers will find the location a treasure trove, capturing the interplay of light and sea against the lighthouse's striking facade. Whether it's a quiet moment of contemplation or a scenic photo opportunity, Newhaven Lighthouse provides a welcome respite from the urban hustle. While it may not boast extensive facilities, its simplicity and natural beauty make it a delightful destination for those seeking a tranquil seaside escape in the heart...

1869, James Dove & Company, Edinburgh; first lit 1878. The final addition to pier extension, 1876. Cast-iron; 4-tiered, an octagonal section with coved and stepped cornice, swept upper stage with portholes and projecting balcony on brackets. Glass light; decorative fenestration; cast-iron cap converges in the semi-circular finial. 👇 Newhaven Harbour is a small harbour used mainly by pleasure craft. The harbour and breakwaters are well maintained, both lighthouses are upstanding and in good condition. The fish market is now split into two buildings, the southern half is now a Harry Ramsdens fish restaurant. The northern half appeared to be empty but may be used as a store. 👇 If you visit Edinburgh you should visit this area and also you can enjoy your fish and chips very close by 👇 During my visit entrance door was open and I've got a chance to visit inside and I took some photos, hope you enjoy my...

An underrated gem of Edinburgh! With the new tram line extension to the port, there is no excuse for tourists not to go here. I came on a rather windy and tempestuous morning, but I do not regret that choice. The sun was rising above the horizon, spraying beams of orange and rose across the brightening sky. Those colours saturated the lighthouse, making it appear like a location from a dream. As the port area continues being redeveloped, I suspect that this idyllic lighthouse will become increasingly popular as a tourist attraction, so I recommend coming here as soon as possible to have an memorable, intimate experience here before the crowds overwhelm...

One of the most picturesque Lighthouses in Edinburgh. A great place for a walk by the seaside. Lochfyne, Fish Market, Porto & Fi and Rishi's are recommended restaurants to try and are next to this harbour. Sunset with red sky is breathtaking to watch! Best time to spend is to come in the afternoon, enjoy a lunch or an afternoon tea/snacks from one of the nearby restaurants (fish and chips of Fish Market is the best in Scotland), walk along the waterfront promenade and come back to the lighthouse nearing sunset. The view is absolutely mindblowing! Parking is available outside Fish Mongers.
