Look, firstly the kid had fun playing with other kids. It's a very safe environment. The food in the cafe is pretty standard as to what you'd expect in a cafe. Some staff were friendly some weren't but they all seemed effective at what they were there to do.
Ok, now that's out of the way I'll say how I feel. We arrived at the car park early. DON'T do that. And certainly DON'T RING THE DOORBELL! Luckily I didn't make that mistake. They lock the whole place down in between the 90 minute sessions I assume to desanitise the whole place in case covid or some other fairly benign pathogens are hanging around. Afterall, kids spit, pick their noses, and are generally meat sacks full of nasties right? It would have been nice to be welcomed when you're early. It's also a missed opportunity for the cafe. Perhaps those that come early could browse some Treasure Chest merch. Instead the welcome wasn't there. Now my son doesn't care about such things and maybe I'm getting old (I am).
It was an extremely regimented, full on process and rule based experience from the moment you park to the moment you leave. Just look at the photos of some of the regulations that are plastered everywhere - even the toilets. Some might like that. I found it over sanitised and wooden. I can only assume the owner has been mentally scarred by the pandemic. It would seem that Covid is alive and well still - and trying desperately to break into Treasure Chest. I even at one point wondered if I needed a face mask again - for the staff's safety! Still, having said all that, the only place I want to be sanitary, the toilet, was clean to the eye 👁️🚽👍
I won't be back with the family, it's not for us dirty grimy people really. To many though, it's popular and they return. Maybe I'm being unfair. Perhaps I'm just tired and it's affecting my judgement somewhat. I just hated the numerous rules and regs plastered everywhere. It felt more like a strict gym as a result. It felt just a bit odd.
This is simply a review of my own experience though. I guess you can't please all of the people all of the time, and this isn't supposed to be a bad review either - I thought 3 stars was accurate. My son would give it 5. When he's old enough to have a Google account I'll ask him to start reviewing the places he wants me to...
Read moreBeen here a couple of times now, first time it was very pleasant. Easy to book. Friendly service. Today however, not so much. Remains easy to pre book. I booked a teenager in to come with us and acknowledged the rules about them not being allowed on the frame. However its not that obvious that they literally can not do anything! Not even in the separate ball park area, or even, as the quite abrupt and rude welcomer at the 0930am session today, to touch the sides of the infant area. Just sit at the table. The reasoning given was that they paid as an adult so do as the adults do - but the adults are going after their kids and allowed inside the frames - I would have trusted my niece more than myself with our babies today on the frames as more agile! Unsure what's happened in the past to create this rule - seems ashame to paint that whole age group with the same brush if so. And to pay the same price as an adult to just sit down. I feel this should be clearer but also the reception worker didn't have to be so abrupt and arsey with us for just asking where she was allowed and then asking why that was the case. On the way out she wouldn't give us a sticker either, seemed to have touched a nerve just asking prior. So that's why I'm giving it a 4 star - everyone else is pleasant and helpful and normally have a good time here despite the very strict rules which mostly, I can understand except the...
Read moreGreat for the kids and a really good venue. But you can't bring your own food and soft drinks, and while this isn't surprising it is a bit of a pain as the food and drink served there is expensive for the quality of it. Me and the wife take the kids every couple of weeks and they have a great time. The prices went up recently and i think it's a joke the price they charge for adults to just come in and watch their kids. But as I've said its great fun for them, so is worth going now and again. Used to go more often when it was cheaper though tbh! We get one coffee each and thats it. The poor kids only get the free tap water that's provided ( but tbh this is mostly because we like our kids to PLAY and tire themselves out the whole time we're there! Haha). We think it's time and money wasted if they're just sat there eating rubbish. We go to the Harvester afterwards for that 🤣 Staff are friendly as well which is nice. I was going to book for my daughters 5th Birthday, but you can only have X many adults. Can't remember exactly how many it was, but know it was no where near enough for the amount of kids there would have been! Will now be booking...
