Magnificent and Great little attraction in the village of Beer on the East Devon Coast with some very beautiful gardens to see and wonderful train rides to enjoy. There are two parts to this place as already which are the trains with a miniature railway and also some train rides that run through various times throughout the day and the other part is the gardens with some breathtakingly beautiful flower borders to see with an outstanding array of colour. The gardens that can be seen are The Milennium Gardens where you can see the Moon Garden & The Sun Garden where the sculptures and artwork blend in beautifully with the spectacular array of colour from the flower borders on displays where you can see spectacular colours of reds, whites and yellows and these blend in well with the exotic feel of the Palm Trees. Other gardens of interest are The Secret Garden, The Wildway and The Grotto with The Grotto in particular having a beautifully intricate pattern of shells within its structure and in The Wildway you can see The Crawlie Hotel and also enjoy wonderful views of Lake Charlotte. The trains/railway element is truly spectacular and the journey itself is extremely enjoyable and relaxing and as you go on your journey you can wonderful views of the gardens and gain a different perspective of it and the train journey itself goes on for a good 10-15 minutes and the price of the train rides is very reasonable at £4 per person. There are a variety of steam and diesel locomotives to ride which can be used on any day and these include Ben, Otter, Mr P, Jools, Dickie, Claudine, Linda and Gem amongst others and all of them are in great condition. The train times run throughout the day and all the times are displayed in the entrance Hut. Other parts of this attraction is the Model Railway Exhibition which is an awesome spectacle where you can see how these function and all the attention detail paid in the constructions of the displays. Near to the Model Railway Exhibition you can see The Golden Arrow and there is an interesting informative information display about it. There is food and drink to enjoy at The Whistle-stop and The Junction at reasonable prices. There is a nice range of souvenirs in the The Entrance Hut at reasonable and a nice selection of railway inspired gifts at decent prices in The Model Railway Shop. Overall this is a fantastic and decent place to visit, which makes for a very enjoyable and amazing memorable day out. Definitely an enjoyable day out particularly for Railway...
Read moreWe were visiting Dorset over the summer and planned a day trip to this beautiful mini railway and it didn't disappoint at all. But here are the good bits and some things to note: There is ample car parking facilities but I expect it does get full so arrive early. To get the best out of the day and see everything you need at least 3/4 of a day. The entrance area is a little confusing as from the car park you have to walk past the entrance to the site to get tickets. Found everyone making the same mistake so better signposting needed. At the ticket hall you will also find a shop of all kids of model railway stuff for beginners and enthusiasts. There is also an original Pullman coach that has been converted into a cafe which is well worth a coffee stop! You can buy tickets either before hand or on the day. Many holiday or tourist spots offer a discount on the purchase of tickets which we made use off and allows you to have access to all parts of the park as well as a second ride which we felt was really good as you notice details you will have missed the first time around. It goes without saying the train ride itself is the star attraction and really really enjoyable. Kids and small babies can go on the ride but need to be accompanied by an adult. Check website for the details. Keep an eye out for the train shed as you see other trains and engineers working on fixing the trains! Also there is a dark tunnel that the train passes though but not scary at all but does black out momentarily. Have a look at the videos I've posted. There are lots of other things to do there all well worth checking out. The pristine gardens, live shows/talks, play areas for kids and crazy golf (no idea why) Lunch in the cafe is ok and the food is quite good with a good range of menu. However, the service is slow and the noise can be too much especially when it's busy with kids all over the place so avoided peak times for eating. There is also a pizza place just nearby where you can sit outside. The staff were what makes the place so special. Everyone was really helpful and friendly and didn't mind being asked questions. A really fun family day out and 💯 recommend it to anyone...
Read moreOur happy place for the summer holidays 2025! My 3 & 7yr old daughters have loved visiting Pecorama this summer. For their 50yr anniversary, Pecorama have reduced their admission prices by 50% so a family of 4 can visit for a whole day for under £25!! This has truly been the best value attraction by a golden mile this summer. Other attractions charge almost this for 1 adult ticket, truly value for money, you can't beat it. My daughters loved it so much we've now bought the Pecorama gold card, which for up to 5 family members costs under £120 for the year! As well as free entry all year when they are open, you get discounts on food, drinks, the shops, unlimited train rides, free drinks each month & various entry discounts to other attractions (25% off Crealy for example). The staff are so helpful & friendly. This holiday my daughters have attended "Fairy door" making, model cottage making & paper town making. My 7 yr old "drove" an electric model train via smartphone on the Andeer layout. The staff were so patient & helpful with the children. One lady kindly sat helping my 7yr old making her model cottage, whilst I was attempting the same with my 3yr old! At the station, staff were letting some children blow the whistle & wave the flag to see the train off which they loved, the smiles were priceless! Beautiful gardens, great play areas (don't forget the zip wire the other side of the site) , clean facilities equals a guaranteed...
