HIGHLY RECOMMENDED WALK WITH A HAWK!! As someone who is passionate about birds of prey this was the BEST birthday present I've had for a long time. Anita was amazing, she was knowledgeable, patient, and very easy to talk to and I could have chatted to her for hours. Trinity (the Harris Hawk) was like a wish come true - she was strong yet powerful and gentle, not at all heavy, was well trained and you could tell she had a loving and caring relationship with her handler/mum Anita, she also showed a bit of her fun personality too. So, I am 50, overweight, short and VERY unhealthy so when I thought about walking through the grounds for an hour it gave me anxiety...but I needent have worried, because the walk around the woodlands of Chawton House near Alton was relaxed, a bit uneven underfoot but manageable, with a mixture of being out in the middle of fields and also in a wooded area throughout, it was amazing and achievable for aanyone.we also had the most perfect weather of sunshine and blue skies! As long as you listen to the instructions from Anita at the beginning and do as you are told, it is almost like having your own hawk for an hour. I expected Anita to do the majority of the glove work with Trinity and I would experience it a few times on the walk, but I was completely wrong...because it was me that did all the glove work and Anita just gave me the food for my glove when she thought it was time to get Trinity down again. There was nothing 'manufactured' about this experience, it was just a calm and relaxed one-to-one walk with Anita and her hawk which gives you an insight into what it would be like if you were lucky enough to have her job. You could tell she loves her birds and loves to show them so as to educate people more about the hawks. I came away from the walk wanting to go back as soon as possible and maybe meet some of her other hawks, and maybe even do the half day one to learn more about the background to keeping and caring for hawks. Then the hardest part is talking my husband into spending money again... I would totally recommend the experience to anyone who loves birds of prey and the price is extremely reasonable too. We would have expected to have paid double what we did due to the experience so it is amazing...

I can highly recommend Anita and her Harris Hawk friends for a relaxing and informative couple of hours. You will walk through the beautiful grounds of Chawton Park House, in the footsteps of Jane Austen, equipped with a protective Falconers glove, whilst Anita will describe the bird, its natural heritage and habits, whilst Trinity or London or one of Anita’s other two Harris Hawks will fly from vantage point to vantage point high in the trees looking out for its natural prey before swooping down to land on your arm, tempted by a treat from Anita’s satchel. The birds may occasionally be more interested in food from the outdoors menu than what you have to offer and will revert to its natural hunter mode but for me the fact that this was possible made the walk seem more spontaneous, less structured and more enjoyable.
Take a camera, it’s easy for an accompanying friend to get some striking photos as the Hawk flies towards you gloved hand
Anita clearly loves her work and her birds, she provides everything you will need including soap and water to wash hands afterwards. Excellent value for those with any interest in getting close to a working...
Read moreWe had the most fabulous time with Anita and one of her beautiful Harris Hawks. From the moment she emailed me confirming who was coming I knew we'd have a great experience.
Anita is incredibly passionate about her Hawks and after going through the basic rules (especially the "Don't touch or stroke the bird" which is completely understandable) we had a fantastic walk through a beautiful wood.
Watching such a beautiful bird do whatever he wanted, flying from tree to tree, swooping down and eating from the glove was a massive joy. It's obvious every bird in her care is incredibly well cared for and both my Husband and I learnt loads about birds of prey during our time.
This was far more than watching a bird fly from post to post for some food, this was a good amount of exercise, seeing a beautiful bird in a beautiful wood with a very experienced and lovely person - would 100% recommend and hope to do another walk with Anita in the...
