Tewin Orchard Nature Reserve — Attraction in East Hertfordshire

Do I want everyone to know about this beautiful secret place? Oh go on then...although I'd rather it stayed quiet and peaceful! An orchard of apple trees, bordered by a field and wood. Lovely lovely place.....amble through and catch a few wild birds walking unawares. Windfall apples to munch, sweet sounds of distant church bells, low afternoon sun rays, it was idyllic. But I'm old fashioned and it suited my introspective...

Went to see the badgers at the hide. Walked quietly from the car park and saw rabbits and a Minyjac on the way in. Despite a full hide (lots of excited kids who didn't always keep still) we saw loads of badgers (peak of 18 at once) and a fox. It was very late getting dark and we were there before dark so got to see them in daylight. ...

If you get to the pub you've gone too far. Really hidden entrance and a few potholes on the drive in to grassy parking area. Such an amazing experience...we counted 20 Badgers at one time. Get comfy, take easy open snacks....not too noisy , a flask and settle back and enjoy the view. 2 and half hours of wildlife on a midsummer evening...
