Unbelievably rude and shocking service just now from the manager at The Rose & Crown in Tewin.
We won a meal for two at this pub with a very short expiry date of a couple of months. I wanted to go after the expiry date and called the manager to explain the situation. He said that it was no problem to use later and he said to just give him a call and let him know the date I wanted as the only reason it had an end of June expiry date was due to the busy July and August period where they have a number of events on in the village. So I left the busy periods of July and August and called just now to book my table.
After explaining the situation and booking my table, the very rude female owner at the pub then called me back, blatantly called me a liar, said it’s not my problem I’ve got kids and that voucher has now expired and i can’t use it. She kept shouting over me as I tried to explain the situation, trying to explain the discussion I had had with her husband and that I would have used the voucher before the expiry date if he had said it wasn’t okay to extend.
Unbelievable. The only reason I wanted to go on a Sunday is because the rest of the food is bad and way overpriced and the roasts are about the only thing that are edible anyway. I certainly won’t be returning to this pub and I suggest to others that you try the plume of feathers up the road as the food and service and venue are...
Read moreAvoid this pub. While the food can be very good, The family that run it are aggressive, abusive and dont deserve your custom.
My wife and two young children visited here for the second time with our friends who recommended the pub to us with their two children. Upon entry, the lady owner was rude but we looked past that. The service in the pub is slow but the non-family staff are pleasent. We ordered drinks and our food, requesting small changes for the Kids and additional yorkshire puddings. nothing out of the ordinary When it came to pay, we thought we'd ask to speak to the owner to give some feedback about the overal service, largely as we liked the pub but service was missing the mark and thought they might be interested in improving, however as the 'Dad' came over it was immediatley clear he wasnt interested and took immedate offense. He then started hurling abuse at us in front of our children (1yr, 3yr and two 6 year olds) We did shout back in defense but then things went surreel with the whole family hurling abuse and trying to get physical. baring in mind the kids were with us, and crying they didnt seem to care and we feared for their safety. So much so we had to call the police to attend to calm it down. Its a real shame and wouldn't want anyone else to go through that experience and have to deal with the...
Read morePleasantly surprised!! Had planned on going to the Plume of Feathers but it was heaving and my partner and I had been traveling all day so wanted a nice dinner. Drove down the road to the next pub and found the Rose and Crown, asked if they did food and were told yes. Barman was training another member of staff with the drinks - being kind and supportive as they spoke. £8 for an IPA and a shandy. Sat down and looked at menu, it looked awful! Choice of burgers, lasagne, scampi, fish goujons, all day brekkie, ham - egg - chips or pie of the day ...but printed on a laminated A4 piece of paper with bent corners, looking really uninspiring. For half our pints we'd committed to look elsewhere for food but the match was on and we couldn't be bothered to drive anymore so took our chances. Ham - egg - chips + chicken and mushroom pie, £23. Both arrived hot and looking amazing. Pie had plenty of filling and with good quality meat (I'm very squeamish with meat, any fatty bits/ veins and I'm not touching it!!) Big portions too! Chef brought them out and was very polite. Really pleased we stayed and took a chance after the unpromising looking menu. Don't let it put you off! Staff and regulars all said farewell. We will definitely be...
