Lovely area with a babbling brook. Plenty of special places hidden in 3000 acres of woodland. There is plenty of wildlife / birds, but a notable lack of squirrels.
The main entry to Rivacre Valley is off Rivacre Road where there is a car park that is usually open until 5pm. Next to the car park is a rangers office which has toilets and spare poo bags for free. Unfortunately though the Rangers office isn't open much and is almost never open on a weekend.
The paths around the area are all reasonable and smooth, so access by wheelchair is fine. How ever the site is split in two by Rivacare road, on a bend that is a little challenging to cross. The gates to the road are of a swing gate style and might be trick for a wheel chair user.
For those on pedal bikes the paths are fine to cycle on. I used my road bike regularly although not fast because there are a number of people on foot using the paths.
There are a number of geocaches around the area and an orienteering route.
The area could do with more thought put into active things people could do, perhaps a separate area to feed squirrels or a children's play area - there are none in the whole 3000 acres. Regardless of what it could be, it is a nice bit of nature to stroll around and enjoy the wildlife that...
Read moreLove this place. Has a rather clean river that the dogs can jump in and have a bit of a swim in. (Its gone a bit muggy during the height of summer as it's shrinking lol and so less water in places) the car park is free and shuts at 5pm. But there's places you can park after 5pm or if you know you're gonna be later than 5pm (round to the right where the houses are) it would be great if they would leave the car park open later especially in summer. Only downfall. There's a few ways you can go too. A hillside way or just flat. But there is a big main road past a gate at the halfway points so we put dogs on lead and cross and then let them off. I absalutely love exploring the river, creeks and things here. There's a bus stop not far from it too. Or it's just over a mile walk from...
Read moreRivacre Valley Nature park is a local treasure to most people in and around Ellesmere port and holds fond memories from when we were children. We used to visit with our parents and grandparents who also visited the Valley in their youth because there used to be an out door swimming baths there but sadly no more. It is still a great place to go to walk the dog or just for a bit of quiet time walking along side a slow moving stream, hearing the birds in amongst the trees, with an array of wild flowers and having the feeling of being at one with nature for a while... and...
