A super collection of vehicles throughout the beginning of mechanisation until I think the most recent was an old route master. The staff were great and very knowledgeable. My dad volunteers at the bus museum currently working on a Dennis bus, so I got to go behind the scenes and see other projects in various stages of restoration, plus the amount of work involved is unbelievable. Boxes of old original hinges, many other removed components will all be restored, from with what I understand the only thing that won't be restored and reused was the glass, as it has to be replaced with modern safety glass, but the overall aim was to keep everything as totally original but restored. I stopped by the aircraft museum and found it so emotional, seeing the Wellington bomber that had been almost restored, recovered from loch Ness! And very moving is a WW2 hurricane on the top floor of the museum. Again the staff were so friendly, knowledgeable and happy to talk and explain. I just wish we had had more time to spend there and see more, there's so many original artifacts, stories to read about. The whole experience, enlightened by the commitment and dedication of the...

Bus Museum: Fun for All

I recently visited the bus museum, and it was a wonderful day out for the whole family, from grandparents to grandchildren. The museum offers a fascinating glimpse into the history of buses, and it's a great way to learn about transportation through the years.

The exhibits were well-maintained and showcased a wide variety of buses from different eras, including vintage models, double-deckers, and even some iconic buses from London. The kids and the grandparents all found something of interest, whether it was the interactive displays, the informative plaques, or simply reminiscing about the buses they used to ride.

The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, happy to answer questions and share their passion for buses. There was also a lovely gift shop with bus-themed souvenirs for all ages.

Overall, the bus museum provided a memorable and educational experience for our multi-generational group. We left with a deeper appreciation for the history of transportation and some great family memories. It's a must-visit attraction for anyone looking for an enjoyable day out...

Took the kids to Brooklands museum which the London Bus museum is inside. This is an amazing collection of old to modern buses while it's not in great numbers it still provides the kids the history of buses.

What I loved the most was being able to ride on the old masters buses, which the ride takes you around the brooklands museum roughly a 10-15 min ride. My kids loved it!

Inside the bus museum there is a little activity area few chairs and tables to do some drawing which they provide colouring pens and paper.

There are toilets, but no area for seating and no food or drinks are allowed. This is part of the Brooklands museum so there are plenty of places outside of the bus museum.

Highly recommend to visit especially to tag onto the brooklands museum. It may not be as big as the London transport museum but it's less crowded and there is...

This is a lovely collection of London's Buses. It is completely separate from, but complementary to, the London Transport Museum in Covent Garden. The London Bus Museum is located within the larger Brooklands Museum which means that it does not need to run its own restaurant/cafe or toilets as visitors can use the general museum facilities. This allows the London Bus Museum to turn over more of the space to displaying and restoring its large collection of large vehicles. It also means that admission is included in the overall admission fee. As someone who grew up on a 'proper' Routemaster and has an interest in seeing old vehicles (such as the breakdown tender built on an old AEC Regent 1 chassis) being recycled as well as preserved I thoroughly enjoyed my visit. The volunteers on duty on the day I visited were all both friendly and knowledgeable.

Britain not only gave the world its first underground but also the iconic red double decker Routemaster. Its taken for granted now for sure but from a simple horse drawn carriage to steam, engine and now electric, it really helps people who don't or can't afford to have cars. You wouldn't wanna drive in a narrow laned city like London in your own car especially after the 24/7 ULEZ and congestion charge. But hop on one of the new hybrid or electric ''green'' red buses that are not only super silent but comfortable too. The new design is very modern plane/train based and every seat has a USB socket for charging. And don't worry about the diesel fumes because they're environment friendly and might even be quieter than your car too.
