This morning, I visited Claremont Gardens, and it was a delightful place to spend a peaceful time. My dog Shadow was well-behaved on a short lead, and the expansive lawns and beautiful landscaping provided a serene backdrop for our walk. The wintery frost added a touch of magic to the scenery, making the gardens look like a fairytale. Every tree, shrub, and pathway sparkled with a glistening coat of frost, creating a truly enchanting atmosphere.
However, the experience was somewhat marred by the presence of unsupervised children who were throwing sticks at the doves, ducks, and geese. This unfortunate behavior detracted from the overall tranquility and enjoyment of the gardens. It was disheartening to see these beautiful creatures disturbed in such a manner.
Despite the minor disturbance, Claremont Gardens remains a lovely spot for a stroll with your furry friend. The combination of well-maintained grounds, the magical wintery frost, the peaceful ambiance, and the delightful café make it a great place to unwind and...
Read moreClaremont Landscape Garden was a lovely afternoon out with the family. It is a very beautiful walk around the lake with lots to do with children. There's a castle play area for small ones, and a really good natural play area called Badgers Base Camp on top of The Mound. We spent a long time here climbing logs, trees, making dens as well as playing on the actual play equipment.
The views are stunning all around the garden. There was a lot of exploring through bushes, stepping across logs and running up and down the Ha-Ha. We found the thatched cottage, which is set up as a playhouse. Children dressed up in costumes and played in the garden and inside the house. My toddler enjoyed the toys and the musical instruments inside too.
We will definitely come back later in spring to explore more, as we ran out of time. We did enjoy a hearty lunch in the cafe too and the loos were fine. The National Trust has really impressed me lately. They've got some lovely activities and ideas going on for all ages. Worth...
Read moreClaremont Landscape Garden is a wonderfully peaceful and beautifully kept National Trust retreat just outside Esher, Surrey. Covering about 49 acres, its layout is classic eighteenth-century, designed by some of Britain’s most celebrated landscape gardeners including Bridgeman, Kent and Capability Brown.
Key features are the sweeping serpentine lake, the graceful architectural Belvedere Tower visible through framed views, and the unusual grass amphitheatre—serene spots perfect for walking, relaxing or simply soaking up the scenery.
The plantings are rewarding year-round, with camellias, rhododendrons, azaleas and ancient trees giving seasonal splashes of colour.
The Gardener’s Bothy café is a cosy bonus, offering hot lunches, cakes and drinks, ideal for pausing awhile. Paths are well-maintained and mostly gentle, making it a very family-friendly spot.
A few caves, animal statues, a children’s playground and viewpoints add variety. All in all Claremont offers a delightful escape into nature,...
