Food 2* - I had a triple cheese ciabatta, which turned out to be an unusually thick and fluffy ciabatta roll with a thin slice of cheese and a half a jar of pickle, so tasted of thick stodgy bread with pickle. I also had soggy sweet potato fries and some salad leaves on the side. Total cost £15 plus £5.50 for a drink. Upon giving feedback that I found the roll inedible, I was argued with condescendingly by a female supervisor, who did not offer me a refund or replacement of my meal. Instead, after I got upset by her arguing, she offered me a (much cheaper) slice of cake. Customer feedback should be taken seriously and the customer should not be argued with and made to feel belittled.
Milkshakes 5* - excellent. Would actually come back just for these but to take away.
Atmosphere 2* - bright and airy, but 85dB background noise of screaming children, loud dialogue (possibly due to the screaming children) and clattering cutlery, not the expected ambience for a fairly expensive cafe and tea room in a supposedly up-market place. Perhaps if calming music was playing, people would feel that making a racket wasn't appropriate? I'm not sure...but it had the ambience of a kids soft play centre or school playground, which is disappointing when spending over £20pp on lunch.
Overall wouldn't recommend, unless you're buying a milkshake...
Read moreNot the best experience and quite frankly after a number of years going there, the food quality and standards are very poor. It’s ridiculously busy with queuing of 20 minutes plus. Breakfast cut off is 12pm so if you arrive in good time, by the time you get to the front of the queue they stop serving breakfast.
Today was a disaster, £44 pounds for food, coffee and two pastries. The chips with the burger were soaked in oil and you can see they had been re -fried a number of times, I would go as far as to say the oil being used did not show or smell to be clean, going off the industry I was formally part off and the burger although edible, was under seasoned and dry at the edges.
This would explain that from point of ordering to service of food we only waited 7 minutes.
The chips were replaced with chips that were equally as similar. I ate the better ones and left the rest. The two pastries were raw underneath and we left half of each.
The drinks arrived 10 minutes after the meals were served. Not ideal.
This is not the place it used to be and the head chef and management need to take a good look at themselves if this food standard is acceptable.
I can honestly say after possible the 5th negative experience there, I will save my money and go else where. This review is not a reflection of garsons, just the...
Read moreBrowsing around the farm shop was lovely, so many interesting goodies, I can spend hours looking. Then we decided to have lunch in the restaurant. Big mistake!! Firstly the table was grubby. Then after deciding what we wanted to eat we went to the cash up point to order. Along with three cooldrinks we asked for two burgers & one vegan pie. The young lady behind the counter told us as it's Sunday they only serve Sunday roasts. Okay, so we ordered one vegan pie & two roasts, plus three side dishes of cauliflower with cheese. The order was repeated to this young lady about four times as she just couldn't remember what we said. After about twenty minutes the vegan pie & one roast & one cauliflower was brought to our table. When we asked where was the rest of the food he replied did you order more food. I mean really!! As if we didn't know what we ordered. Upon looking at our receipt we noticed the 'bright' lass had only rung up two meals. The queue was so long my brother didn't feel like going back in the queue, nor did the young so called supervisor at any point offer to place the order as it was their mistake. Will not be going back to eat at the restaurant in a hurry!!! Such shocking service & the staff need training in...
