Card Only! If the man wasn’t so nice running it, I would have perhaps not been so happy! But I will bypass my thoughts on card only, on this occasion. Because, this service for me was a lifeline. Don’t think I’ve been spoken to so rudely in a long time. I simply asked if we could pay by cash and the driver said: “Well I’m standing here with a card machine.” Ok, a simple ‘no, only card’ would have been fine. When we explained it was the first time we’d used the train, the guy said ‘Well you’ll know for next time’. It may provide a useful transport service but the ride is bumpy and on hard plastic seats. Unlike a promenade land train, you can't see this land train until it is on top of you. The route is shared by pedestrians, cyclists, families with buggies, dog walkers and the occasional commercial vehicle. A small railway, cutting across the edge of the harbour would provide a comfortable ride and minimise any conflict with people heading to Mudeford.
