At first I quite enjoyed going to the Pelhams Park Leisure Centre, up until recently.
Firstly, I've noticed when you enter the building, the people behind the desk rarely acknowledge you, even when its quiet. It would be nice to get a polite hello, or at least a smile or a friendly head nod at best. I'd try to remind myself that this is just how people are these days and try to go about my day.
The changing rooms for the gym members have very few private changing areas so most of the time you are forced to either wait to get changed, or swallow your modesty and undress in front of the other visitors. The first shower stall has a nasty mildew stain on the tiles to the right that has been there for months which makes me wonder how often or thoroughly they get cleaned.
Lastly, you may not want to go to this gym if you don't drive, especially if you like to have a shower after your workout.
The policy of this gym is that lockers are strictly only be used on a very temporary basis, you are never to leave your belongings overnight at the facility, you are only allowed to leave your belongings in the locker while you are either in the pool or at the gym, but then you are to take your belongings with you when you leave, the key is not to leave the building.
This was explained to me due to the fact that thousands of people will use this facility and there are simply not enough lockers to go around. This explanation would have been fine with me, that is if I wasn't being talked down and told off as if I was some naive child.
But at least now its now been made crystal clear to me, I am not a person in this place, but just a number among thousands.
If you want to be treated like a number too... Then of...

Not too crowded so it's good to spend an hour or so, or depending on what you are looking for. They have the gym upstairs and other facilities too. There is a soft play area if you have kids too, and get a discount on the drinks with the soft play if the kids wants to...

They have a sports ground here and look like they host football's games and have 5 a side tournaments. There's a nice safe at park and a skate park for the more stuntier of folk. Pooh sticks can be played on the walk and there is dog friendly rivers for the fog that...
