Where to begin. The evening was a tricky start for the 15 of us on arrival (prebooked) when they refused to allow is to purchase a drink from the bar while we waited for our table. We were told that we couldn't order drinks until we were sat down? Please bare in mind we were not ordering a round for 15 people, this was just one order or 3 drinks. After some discussion, we were allowed to order the 3 drinks, but were told we could NOT pay by card, only cash. OK not a massive issue but a bit of a nuisance. We were then seated. Once seated we all wanted a group photo as this meal was a gathering to remember the sudden and tragic recent loss of a much loved member of the family. I readied the camera along with the group and asked the chap please could he take the picture. I was told in no uncertain terms "No get someone else to do it". OK.... bit rude but fine. Then while pursuing the menu, 2 of us had asked if we could share a banquet meal. We were told "no you can't do that".. Again... OK thats fine, its a business so we get it. One of our group then attempted to ask what smaller meal options they would suggest for me due to me not being able to eat a full meal (they had no children's/lighter bite option) they attempted to say "this lady medically can only eat smaller meals...." when she was abruptly interrupted and told by the waiter/manager "Then she shouldn't have come here should she" as he promptly stormed off!! I'm not looking for pity/sympathy just some menu advice on a smaller meal option!!!!! (I've NEVER had an issue in any other restaurant EVER). MOST of our group were treated appallingly throughout the evening. Meals were slow and staggered, items ordered missing and then sent out late. Even followed out of the place when I had only gone to use my vape while others ate their full meals. My payment for my starter I ended up with was on the table yet I was still followed like I was doing a runner for the £4.50 meal I had!! There was still 14 people eating their banquets so I wasn't about to leg it over £4.50!! All in all, I think had we read the awful reviews on fb before booking then we most likely would have avoided it. They tell you you have to pay cash and cant have separate bills at the end, when in fact you can. The poor girl behind the bar is run ragged while the manager/waiter does little more than be rude...
Read moreGood food, a shame about the staff/service! Best ever Bombay Aloo and Naam Breads- both Keema and Garlic. The curry was average and a bit concerned by how much food colouring is used as everything was post box red! Bit alarming as try to avoid additives and processing chemicals as much as possible and this seems so unnecessary and I noticed it's been mentioned in other reviews. Unfortunately it is not a friendly place. Staff were quite sullen and unwelcoming. The only time they spoke was when trying to upsell. None of our party are drinkers, of either alcohol or sugary beverages so we only wanted water - don't think they like that very much but as it was virtually empty so we weren't using up a table where they could get more higher paying people in. We still spent nearly £90 anyway so much better than an empty table. They seemed a bit put out that we didn't want deserts or coffee either, couldn't really understand what the waiter was saying most of the time but heard him mention liqueurs several times at the end. Never been made to feel like this at any restaurant before. Was very slow to bring food out despite being virtually empty. 5 of us squashed on to a table of 4 that was very difficult to fit all the plates on. Again, despite the place being empty as we were early diners. Slow to bring the bill, slow to come back for payment so we took it to the counter as couldn't wait any longer but they met us half way and expected to use the machine just standing in the middle of the restaurant with nothing to lean on whist trying to manage with bags and a walking aid. Ridiculous, so I just moved to the counter anyway as had enough of rude attitude by now. So service lets them down and I wouldn't recommend and I...
Read moreWent there for my birthday meal. We ordered food the nigh before for a specific time as we had a large order and needed it at that time. Guy on the phone was really helpful by checking he had everything written down etc. On my birthday, at 1845 (when we had ordered it for) no food had turned up. We Waited another half hour before phoning them when they then said that we had ordered it for the following day. Who would order food two days ahead? They then said our food would be with us in 15 mins, and of course it wasn't! An hour after our food was meant to be delivered we phoned them up again where we were then told that they were really busy and had forgotten our order. When our order finally turned up, almost an hour and a half later than we had asked for, they gave us two bottles of wine and some onion bargees to compensate for the delay. The delivery man was very apologetic and explained what had happened.
The naan and popudums were lovely with neither being soggy. The pilau rice tasted a lot, if not the same as microwave rice. If you order from there, it may be cheaper to pop down to your local shop and buy some microwave pilau since it tasted and looked the same. We ordered several chicken kormas which varied in colour and taste. Some were very mild and pale like chicken korma normally are and some were quite dark and spicy.
Not particularly impressed with Spice of India and was quite...
