this place is amazing there is a long drive way leading from the main gate up to the main car park and the on site church. as you are driving / walking up the drive you should be able to see the wild deer almost immediately on both sides of you in the long grass and among the trees. there are over 400 deer in the park there are three different breeds of dear Red,Fallow and Sika. it dosnt cost anything to walk around Studley deer park but you will have to pay for parking if you are not a national trust member also be on the look out for the rare white heart deer there is only one at Studley and he is rather elusive. I was lucky to see the white heart deer and witnessed him rutting with another deer as a word of warning during rutting season the male deer get very aggressive and territorial so remember to keep your distance as they can do server damage with there antlers. in my photos it may look like i was close but i was using a very powerful zoom lens and kept a safe distance. the park is huge and would take you a good couple of hours to walk around. there is a beautiful lake inside the grounds with plenty of places to sit and have a picnic with plenty of rubbish bins. there is also an onsite tea room/cafe with toilets including a disabled toilet. there are always staff walking around or in vehicles that are on hand to help you with directions information or advice. best time to go in my opinion is rutting season that starts late September early October until the end of November this is when the male fight for dominance and mating rights and makes for...
Read moreLarge, well kept deer park home to over 300 red, sika and fallow deer. Situated outside the gated grounds of Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal Water Gardens, this park is a lovely place for a walk, with the opportunity to see some animals that will please the whole family. Within the park is St Mary's Church, one of the finest Victorian Gothic Revival churches in the United Kingdom, open between 13:00 and 15:30 from April to October. Seven Bridges Valley offers an interesting little walk, descending through a small but scenic valley with rocky cliffs in places. If visiting just the deer park for a walk, parking charges are expensive as they're based around timings that are much longer than is required. If also visiting Fountains Abbey and the water gardens (£21.00 for adults, but free for National Trust and English Heritage members), they make more sense, as there's enough to occupy a full day exploring the whole site. The paid National Trust site has comprehensive visitor facilities, including a café and toilets just within...
Read moreWe had a lovely day at Studley. The deers were hiding so no sightings, however the beautiful St Mary’s church, views and lake are amazing. We visited the tea room as well which was very nice, the staff were very pleasant and friendly. I was on a mobility scooter and it was down hill and flat for much of the visit. A very kind gentleman at the teashop (part of the team at Studley) then gave us a lift back to the car park. Such a credit to all the fantastic staff we came across, we hope to visit again...
