Sandown Airport is a great place to visit, with the Aviation Museum in its grounds. Test your flying skills on one of the two flight simulators. Or you can have the real thing, and book yourself some flying lessons at the airport. Also, gain knowledge of flight through the ages.. As you enter the grounds, there is a life-size replica of Black Knight, the UK’s first satellite, into space. Its engines were tested on the island above the Needles. Enjoy the volunteers' helpful, expertise and knowledge. It's a great day out, watch the light aircraft landing and takeing off. Book a meal, the Sunday Dinner is a favourite meal of ours. Or just sit with a drink, alcoholic or a cuppa. There are also themed weekends, such as Sqid games, the mini rallies of hundreds of mini cars from the 60s. This place is a little gem......

Read moreA excellent small but so informative museum. Plus it's all housed inside an aircraft hanger situated at Sandown Airport, Free to get in, but donations are accepted. It has so much memobila plus photos of war planes plus commercial ones as well, and plenty of artefacts as well. There was even a scaledown ops room where you see how squadrons dealt with attacks by enemy planes. The highlight for me was at the end where you pay £3 (June 2024 prices) to fly a plane? Actually you sit inside a statutory plane and with the help of a member of staff put on a pair of VR googles and take off and fly, It's so realistic you can even see moving vehicles and people down below. The staff are fantastic, so kind and welcoming, They...
