Located near the Le-on-the-solent in the south of England, the Earth Preservatory Land is a beautiful destination, especially for those who are passionate about birdwatching. One of the highlights here is spotting the kingfisher, which adds to the charm of this place. To start your visit, you’ll need to park your car on the street at a rate of £1.1 per hour. The visitor’s ticket costs around £6 for adults, which is reasonable considering the experience. After purchasing your ticket, you walk about 100 yards from the visitor's office to the entrance gate. The path is well-marked and easy to navigate. It’s worth noting that refreshments like ice cream and other amenities are only available at the visitor’s office. Once you enter the preservatory land, it’s all about immersing yourself in the birdwatching experience, without access to additional amenities. Inside, there are four or five designated "hot spots" where you can stop and observe the birds. These hot spots are equipped with shelters and windows, which can be opened on good weather days, giving you a clear view of the surrounding small lakes. These lakes serve as peaceful habitats for various bird species. The length of the path leading to these hot spots is less than a kilometer, making it a pleasant and accessible walk. Overall, Earth Preservatory Land is a great place for a serene walk and some memorable birdwatching moments.

It's such a stunning area. We parked on the sea front, which was £1.50 an hour up to full day. The coastal path is nearly flat to the beach with plenty of parking bays available up to 11am. A van sells top quality drinks there, plus there are loos. Shingle beach with breakers but slow slope into the sea. Clear view to the isle of White. The marshes national park are off this road and have well marked paths and the reserve is full of birds to watch. There is a great hide to sit in and to observe from that you can see from the carpark. We really enjoyed our day with only an hour's drive from Basingstoke. It was supper to just sit and watch the boats and surfers. Pretty amazing walks and sceenery, at very little cost as a day out.

We had a really lovely family walk. The reserve is undergoing some maintenance so not everything was accessible but, because of that, there was no admission charge. The staff were amazing - so friendly and helpful - and we're great with the children. We hired backpacks which included a magnifying glass, activity sheets, and a spotters guide and they were just £1! The children loved them! Adults could also borrow binoculars for free. We were able to buy hot and cold drinks as well as ice creams. We will definitely be back to see the other side when it opens!

Through the gate is the small visitor's centre, which acts as a gift shop where you can buy bird food and other small gifts related to the whole nature theme. Entry is very cheap, which makes it a very affordable day out if you have a large family. You can also purchase a bird and boat spotter sheet which is a fun activity to do while you are there. There are two sides to the reserve, East and West, one side more woodland and the other side marshes. We took the wooded side, but I would recommend the other side if you want to see more nature, as we only managed to spot the occasional bird, like a robin. Through the hides you don't see that much as well, as we found out that the geese and birds were on the opposite side to the hide. Each walk varies in length but are both enjoyable. However there is a great cafe which sells cheap hot drinks to accompany you on your journey, and for the very affordable entry I would come here if you love...
